San Diego Rescue Mission Event
Samaritan's Feet

Thursday, June 12th 5:45pm-9pm
&
Friday, June 13th 6:30am-11am

Come serve with San Diego Rescue Mission as we host “Samaritan’s Feet” for the second year! Volunteers will wash the feet of about 350 men, women, and children living at the Rescue Mission. Residents will also receive a brand new pair of shoes and most importantly will be prayed for by our volunteers. Our desire is to show the love of Christ in a humbling and practical way!

The event will take place at San Diego Rescue Mission (120 Elm St, San Diego) in our multi-purpose room on June 12th and June 13th. To sign up for either day or ask questions please email our Volunteer Coordinator Debbie Krakauer at dkrakauer@sdrescue.org. Thanks!

Volunteers looking for Opportunity
Several groups of 10-12 high school students and their leaders are looking to serve somewhere from 10am-12:30pm on Thursday, June 26th. Not only could this be an opportunity to receive needed service but also a growth opportunity for these students. They are willing to do anything from cleaning to evangelism. If your church, ministry, organization could use the extra hands, please contact Gabe Shippam at 619-921-5048 or gabrielshippam@live.com.

Connections Housing:
Life Skills Training

On May 22 the Downtown Fellowship (DF) completed an eight session course of Life Skills training for Connections Housing residents. The course, taught by James Robins of the Personal Development Institute, had an average weekly attendance of about fifteen residents. The DF received very positive feedback from participants and from ALPHA/PATH staff. DF members Dick Karlson and Paul Ghizzone have supported the class, helping with curriculum preparation and course logistics.

The class will be offered again from July 3 through July 28 and will be held twice a week rather than once a week (Mondays and Thursdays). It is hoped that this condensed monthly version will encourage larger and more consistent attendance.

Nappy and Kiffinie receive Life Skills certificates from Bruce Menser and James Robins.

Doing it Better Together (DIBT)
- Responsible Street Homeless Outreach

Downtown Fellowship Homeless Outreach Service Provider (HOSP) Coordination Action Group: Next steps from the April monthly meeting include creation of a training video to highlight best practices for street outreach. The DIBT leadership team is also following up on the possible launch of a street outreach web based mapping tool which will encourage better coordination among HOSPs.

Pocket Directories for street outreach: The Downtown Fellowship has partnered with the San Diego Downtown Partnership Clean and Safe program on the reprint of an updated pocket directory for homeless outreach. The DF has taken delivery of 2,500 directories and is distributing them among HOSPs.
