Please read this important letter from Cantor Jaime Shpall which she sent to our Board Members earlier today.
Please look for an email from Congregation Beth Israel President, Jay Stein and Rabbi Stephen Kahn later this week in which they will reflect on Cantor Shpall's service to our Holy Community.
To The Board of Directors of Congregation Beth Israel:
I would like to share some bittersweet news with you. After nearly 8 wonderful years at Congregation Beth Israel, I will be moving to a new cantorial position at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills, California, starting this summer.
Marcel and I both have family living in that area and it has been a long time dream of ours to eventually move there. In the cantorial profession, jobs in some areas only come open once in a blue moon, so while we are sad to be leaving CBI and Scottsdale, this opportunity was too good to pass up.
It will be a sad and difficult departure for me, and my whole family. Congregation Beth Israel has truly become our home. You have opened your hearts to us and have treated us like family. It has been nothing less than a privilege to be with you and your families during your most important times, joyous occasions and losses alike, and it saddens me to think of all of the important milestones that I will miss.
I will continue here at CBI full time through the end of my current contract (the end of June, 2015) before moving to California. There will still be many more Shabbat and holiday services and plenty of time to say our goodbyes. Please feel free to come and talk with me if you have any questions. I aim to make this transition as smooth as possible.
With Love,
Cantor Jaime Shpall
