Hello Resurrection Blue Springs,
I hope you're managing to stay warm on this chilly Friday morning. We're into the second week of our Lenten journey this week. I hope you're managing to keep your commitments to fasting or adding a practice to strengthen your faith. If you've gotten off track, don't abandon your efforts just pick it back up and try again. Developing spiritual disciplines can be challenging work. I am pleased to see and hear about how you are working to deepen their faith and manage a holistic approach to life through this season.
We had a great group begin the "Final Words to the Cross" study on Sunday night and another that met in-home on Wednesday. I'm taking part in the Wednesday night Covenant Bible study. We had a great discussion this week about the concept of the kingdom of heaven and our expectations for it. While we were in this discussion, on the other side of the church, a group of parents for our younger children were discussing how to help our children make good choices. I was reminded that all our work here, both inside the church and outside it's walls is for the sake of strengtheing and building God's kingdom.
Speaking of children, I want to say a big thank you to Christie Walker and Caitlin Willis and the team of parents who have taken on extra duties in KiDSCOR to cover Diane Enlow, our Children's Director's maternity leave. They are doing an awesome job. We had a brand new family come last week and as they left one of the kids said to their parents, "Can we come back every Sunday?" I love to hear this kind of news.
This weekend I will be preaching live a follow up to our sermon last week on letting go. We'll explore the question, how do I find the faith to follow Jesus once I've let go of my past? I hope you'll join us for worship. I would also ask that you be in prayer for our Leawood campus. This weekend is groundbreaking for the new sanctuary in Leawood. It will be a historic weekend for our church. Following an abbreviated sermon, Pastor Adam will be completing the worship outdoors with the congregation as they share a prayer of commitment and turn over the dirt. Everyone is invited to bring a shovel and participate in this groundbreaking.
Here are more details about what's coming up:
