"The Power of a Transformed Life" by Author: Duane C. Brush
I was acquainted with her as the sister of a friend from high school. She was younger and I knew that she had been adopted shortly before we first met. Years passed and one day I encountered her and her adoptive mother. We chatted for a bit. She had recently graduated from high school and had plans to start college in the fall. The awkward and shy girl I had known had become a confident young woman. I remarked on the change. “Do you want to see my ‘before’ picture?” she asked as she pulled out a wallet and flipped to a small school picture. It showed a small girl with frazzled hair and a blank expression. “Is that you? Was that before you were adopted? Wow, I wouldn’t know you were the same person,” I remarked. Her mother beamed as she nodded, “I wasn’t. It was before I knew Christ and how much God loved me.” “That is wonderful. I am so happy for you,” I responded. I will never forget her wonderful story of transformation.
The world may reject Christ and mock his followers, but the testimony of a transformed life always gives praise to God.
Hymn for Today: "Wonderful Words of Life" by Philip P. Bliss, 1838-1876
1. Sing them over again to me,
wonderful words of life;
let me more of their beauty see,
wonderful words of life;
words of life and beauty
teach me faith and duty.
Refrain:
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
wonderful words of life.
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
wonderful words of life.
2. Christ, the blessed one, gives to all
wonderful words of life;
sinner, list to the loving call,
wonderful words of life;
all so freely given,
wooing us to heaven.
Refrain:
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
wonderful words of life.
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
wonderful words of life.
3. Sweetly echo the gospel call,
wonderful words of life;
offer pardon and peace to all,
wonderful words of life;
Jesus, only Savior,
sanctify forever.
Refrain:
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
wonderful words of life.
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
wonderful words of life.
