Greetings RezDowntowners,
I am writing quickly today to remind you about two big events happening in the next week. One of those events is happening tonight at our Leawood Campus and the other begins next Monday at Resurrection Downtown!
First, in response to this past Sunday's tragedy in Orlando we are planning to host a Memorial Vigil for Orlando tonight at 6:00 pm at the Wesley Covenant Chapel in our Leawood Campus. It's during times like these in our world when God calls us to draw nearer to each other and to God to remember the precious gift of life and the calling that God places upon our lives to make the most of them, to love and care for others the way that God first loves and cares for us. One of the ways that we can do this is by remembering the lives of those who have tragically gone before, to remember that God is with us and his heart breaks right along with ours, and that even now, God is making a way for us to move forward into the future because of his grace, mercy and the promise of resurrection hope! I hope you'll join us tonight at 6:00 pm.
Secondly I want to remind you that Vacation Bible Camp is just five days away. It will be taking place on June 20–23, 5:30-7 pm. If you haven’t had a chance to sign up, please do so today. We’ll be spending the week meeting the Royals of the Bible. We will learn about wise King Solomon, courageous Queen Esther, young King Josiah and the one True King, Jesus! Registration is open for ALL children in Kindergarten – 5th grade (2015-16 school year). Younger children may attend with an adult volunteer. To register visit cor.org/downtown/vbc.
There is so much going on this summer at RezDowntown. I am looking forward to connecting with you tonight as well as this weekend in worship. In the meantime, know that it is my privilege to be a part of this community that is seeking to transform the heart of the city by the grace of Jesus Christ!
