Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living from Wordaction of The Global Church of the Nazarene Publishing House in Kansas City, Missouri, United States "Listen" by Charles Tillman Sr. for Wednesday, 28 December 2016 with Scripture: Acts 10:30-38

"Listen" by Charles Tillman Sr.
Acts 10:30 Cornelius answered, “Three days ago around this time, I was at minchah prayers in my house, when suddenly a man in shining clothes stood in front of me 31 and said, ‘God has heard your prayer and remembered your acts of charity. 32 Now send to Yafo and ask for Shim‘on, known as Kefa; he is staying in the house of Shim‘on, a leather-tanner, by the sea.’ 33 So I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now all of us are here in the presence of God to hear everything the Lord has ordered you to say.”
34 Then Kefa addressed them: “I now understand that God does not play favorites, 35 but that whoever fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him, no matter what people he belongs to.
36 “Here is the message that he sent to the sons of Isra’el announcing shalom through Yeshua the Messiah, who is Lord of everything. 37 You know what has been going on throughout Y’hudah, starting from the Galil after the immersion that Yochanan proclaimed; 38 how God anointed Yeshua from Natzeret with the Ruach HaKodesh and with power; how Yeshua went about doing good and healing all the people oppressed by the Adversary, because God was with him.

After demonstrating His omnipotence in a powerful wind, an earthquake, and fire, God spoke to Elijah in a gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:11-12). Often, people expect God to speak in a demonstratively supernatural way. Yet, in the stillness of the quiet after the storm, the Lord often does His best work. He uses the demonstration to engage us and then speaks in a gentle whisper.
Cornelius was praying when a man in shining clothes appeared to him. “God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor” (Acts 10:31). God hears every prayer uttered by His children. However, He does not always answer quickly. Yet, it is important that every believer pray with an expectation that God hears and will answer. “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you,” said our Lord Jesus (John 15:7).
What do you need from God today? No request is too huge for God! Is your marriage on the rocks? Ask Him to help you. Are you depressed? Ask Him to fill you! Are you confused, unsure which way to turn? Ask Him to guide you! God hears and He answers prayer!

Hymn for Today: "Blessed Quietness? by Manie Payne Ferguson
1. Joys are flowing like a river,
since the Comforter has come;
He abides with us forever,
makes the trusting heart His home.
Refrain:
Blessed quietness, holy quietness,
what assurance in my soul!
On the stormy sea He speaks peace to me,
how the billows cease to roll!
2. Bringing life and health and gladness,
all around this heavenly Guest,
banished unbelief and sadness,
changed our weariness to rest.
Refrain:
Blessed quietness, holy quietness,
what assurance in my soul!
On the stormy sea He speaks peace to me,
how the billows cease to roll!
3. Like the rain that falls from heaven,
like the sunlight from the sky,
so the Comforter is given,
coming on us from on high.
Refrain:
Blessed quietness, holy quietness,
what assurance in my soul!
On the stormy sea He speaks peace to me,
how the billows cease to roll!

Thought for Today: Psalm 27:1 Teach me your way, Adonai;
lead me on a level path
because of my enemies —

Please Pray: That many people in Iraq will come to know Yeshua the Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
