"Psalm 23 (5)" for Wednesday, 24 May 2017 - Deaf Devo - The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States - Bible Reading: Psalm 23:4
Psalm 23:4 Even if I pass through death-dark ravines,I will fear no disaster; for you are with me; your rod and staff reassure me.
-------
The first part of Psalm 23:4 says, "Even if I walk through a valley as dark as the grave, I will not be afraid of any danger, because you are with me."
In late spring, a shepherd takes his sheep to the meadows higher in the hills. But often the best way to reach these meadows is to walk through the valleys. Sometimes these valleys are filled with dangers: poisonous weeds, sharp rocks or animals waiting to attack the sheep. A good shepherd safely leads his sheep through these valleys to meadows full of green grass.
Sometimes we must walk through dangerous valleys, too. These valleys may be financial problems, sickness, relationship problems or the death of a loved one. But during these times, God is always with us. We don't need to be afraid. We can know that God will take care of us - just like the shepherd takes care of his sheep.
Maybe you are walking through a valley today. Remember that God is with you. He loves you and wants to take care of you.
"Lord, you are my Light and my Savior, so why should I be afraid of anyone?" [Psalm 27:1a]
PRAYER: God, thank You for always taking care of me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
