Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
I hope you’re all doing well on this Friday afternoon. My note is coming out a bit late today as we’ve been trying to stay ahead of our movers. We have officially become lake dwellers with a new home on Lake Tapawingo. It’s all a ploy to entice our children to come hang out and bring the grandkids. We looking forward to finding occasions to host you too. Our moving crew was amazing today. It makes me appreciate folks who do hard physical labor all day every day and have such a positive attitude even as I pause to ponder where the heavy box they’re holding is supposed to go.
Last weekend we held our First Serve Fair offering this year’s serving t-shirt to anyone willing to try out one of our many serving positions. Quite a few of you took us up on the offer to shadow a role. If you weren’t here, the opportunity is still available this Sunday. Just stop by Guest Services after worship to learn about the different roles and sign up for a one time serve to try it out. We also have t-shirts as a gift to all our regular volunteers so if you didn’t get one last week, pick one up this Sunday.
Several of you have asked how to go about joining the church. We have an opportunity this Sunday after worship at 12:15 pm with Pizza with the Pastor. I’ll share some of my story and the history of Resurrection, Pastor Adam will speak via video about the United Methodist tradition and we will lay out expectations of membership. You do not have to join to participate, but at the conclusion if you are ready to make us your church home, you’ll stay for an additional ten minutes to join. Childcare is available. There will also be a Group Leaders Toolbox for anyone who is interested to learn more about the mechanics of leading a small group.
Rezlife student ministries held their Middle School pool party along with a parent informational meeting last Sunday. It was a great chance for parents to meet our new Director of Youth Ministries, Caleb Longest and hear about his plans for Relief this fall. This week the High School group will meet on Sunday afternoon at 4 pm for their pool party. Parents are invited to stay for a short meeting as well. It’s going to be a awesome year for our kids. We encourage them to bring friends along any time.
Sunday, we continue our sermon series on Simon Peter, a flawed but faithful follower of Christ. This week we turn to the story of Peter’s invitation from Jesus to walk on water. It’s a great story about fear and the power of Christ’s presence in our lives. I hope you’ll invite a friend and join us.
In the meantime, be sure to check out the other upcoming opportunities to serve, grow and connect with our community below. . . .
