Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - WordAction - The Nazarene Publishing House [The Foundry Publishing House] in Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Tuesday, 1 August 2017 - "Oh, the Lies!" by Fred Prince - 1 Timothy 3:11-16
1 Timothy 3:11 Similarly, the wives must be of good character, not gossips, but temperate, faithful in everything. 12 Let the shammashim each be faithful to his wife, managing his children and household well. 13 For those who serve well as shammashim gain good standing for themselves and much boldness in the trust that comes through Yeshua the Messiah.
14 I hope to visit you soon; but I am writing these things 15 so that if I am delayed, you may know how one should behave in the household of God, which is the Messianic Community of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth. 16 Great beyond all question is the formerly hidden truth underlying our faith:
He was manifested physically
    and proved righteous spiritually,
seen by angels
    and proclaimed among the nations,
trusted throughout the world
    and raised up in glory to heaven.

Satan loves to reach into his bag of dirty tricks and whisper lies in the ear of every Christ follower. The enemy comes only “to steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10a). He wants to steal the joy and assurance of God’s love. His lies are many: “You haven’t done enough,” “What you have done isn’t good enough,” “She would have done it better,” or “He would have gotten better results.”
We must refuse the lies and realize just as the scalpel isn’t judged for the success of the surgeon’s surgery, we are not judged by the results that only God can bring about. Our sole responsibility is simply to be an instrument in God’s hand. To go where He directs. To speak when He leads. To do what He asks of us.
Our excellent standing with the Lord and His great assurance comes from obedience–not from the results we think we should produce. Jesus reminded the disciples, "If you love me, you will this much fruit." Only God can produce fruit. Leave the results with God, choose obedience, and experience His assurance deep within.
Hymn for Today:
"Trust and Obey" by John H. Sammis
1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Thought for today:
Yeshua answered him, “If someone loves me, he will keep my word; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.[Jesus in John 14:23].
Please pray:The many people in Senegal will come to know Yeshua the Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
