"Go And Tell" by Sean Carr - John 20:11-1811 but Miryam stood outside crying. As she cried, she bent down, peered into the tomb, 12 and saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Yeshua had been, one at the head and one at the feet. 13 “Why are you crying?” they asked her. “They took my Lord,” she said to them, “and I don’t know where they have put him.”
14 As she said this, she turned around and saw Yeshua standing there, but she didn’t know it was he. 15 Yeshua said to her, “Lady, why are you crying? Whom are you looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you’re the one who carried him away, just tell me where you put him; and I’ll go and get him myself.” 16 Yeshua said to her, “Miryam!” Turning, she cried out to him in Hebrew, “Rabbani!” (that is, “Teacher!”) 17 “Stop holding onto me,” Yeshua said to her, “because I haven’t yet gone back to the Father. But go to my brothers, and tell them that I am going back to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” 18 Miryam of Magdala went to the talmidim with the news that she had seen the Lord and that he had told her this. Death has been defeated! The enemy may still control some of the battlefield, but the final victory is assured. Jesus Christ is risen!
Mary experienced the risen Christ and all she could do was “cling” to Him. The fear, the desperation, the hopelessness and doubt all were gone. Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was alive and before her! Her joy was not something to hoard and keep inside. Joy like this is meant to be shared and given to others. So when Jesus says, “Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God’” she knew what she had to do (v. 17). Go and tell.
Resurrection must be experienced and once it is experienced there is no other choice than to share the good news of living, breathing flesh where once there was only decay and rot. Resurrection is not just reanimated life made into what it is suppose to be. “Go and tell” has become our instruction from the risen Christ, but first you and I need to experience resurrection. When you do, then you too will go!
Hymn for Today: "He Keeps Me Singing" by Luther B. Bridgers.
1. There's within my heart a melody;
Jesus whispers sweet and low,
"Fear not, I am with you, peace, be still,"
in all of life's ebb and flow.
Refrain: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
sweetest name I know,
fills my every longing,
keeps me singing as I go.
2. All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,
discord filled my heart with pain,
Jesus swept across the broken strings,
stirred the slumbering chords again.Refrain: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
sweetest name I know,
fills my every longing,
keeps me singing as I go.
3. Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,
trials fall across the way;
though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
see His footprints all the way.Refrain: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
sweetest name I know,
fills my every longing,
keeps me singing as I go.
4. Feasting on the riches of His grace,
resting 'neath His sheltering wing,
always looking on His smiling face,
that is why I shout and sing.Refrain: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
sweetest name I know,
fills my every longing,
keeps me singing as I go.
5. Soon He's coming back to welcome me
far beyond the starry sky;
I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,
I shall reign with Him on high.
Refrain: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
sweetest name I know,
fills my every longing,
keeps me singing as I go.
