Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living - The Global of the Nazarene's Foundry Publishing House in Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Friday, 22 June 2018 "You Will Be Found Out" by Caleb Reynolds - Luke 12:1-12.
Luke 12:Meanwhile, as a crowd in the tens of thousands gathered so closely as to trample each other down, Yeshua began to say to his talmidim first, “Guard yourselves from the hametz of the P’rushim, by which I mean their hypocrisy. 2 There is nothing covered up that will not be uncovered, or hidden that will not become known. 3 What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops.
4 “My friends, I tell you: don’t fear those who kill the body but then have nothing more they can do. 5 I will show you whom to fear: fear him who after killing you has authority to throw you into Gei-Hinnom! Yes, I tell you, this is the one to fear! 6 Aren’t sparrows sold for next to nothing, five for two assarions? And not one of them has been forgotten by God. 7 Why, every hair on your head has been counted! Don’t be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows.
8 “Moreover, I tell you, whoever acknowledges me in the presence of others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. 9 But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before God’s angels. 10 Also, everyone who says something against the Son of Man will have it forgiven him; but whoever has blasphemed the Ruach HaKodesh will not be forgiven.
11 “When they bring you before the synagogues and the ruling powers and the authorities, don’t worry about how you will defend yourself or what you will say; 12 because when the time comes, the Ruach HaKodesh will teach you what you need to say.”.

In kindergarten, we played the game “Button, Button, Who’s Got the Button?” Everyone sat in a circle, eyes closed, hands behind their back. The teacher walked around the circle, and quietly placed the button in someone’s hand. When everyone had opened their eyes, it was time to guess who had the button.
It was easy to guess. Who is smiling? Who has a red face? Who won’t look you in the eye? The next turn, it happened all over again. We can’t hide a secret, even when we’re the only one who knows!
If we thought we could keep our sin under wraps, Luke 12 puts those fantasies to rest. Our sins, like chickens at sunset, come back home to roost. Our world loves to expose a scandal. One after another, secret sins have a way of getting out and making themselves known, especially in a world connected by social media.
Ironically, this highlights the importance of confession. When we own up to our sins appropriately, it provides an opportunity for healing and forgiveness. When we try to cover them up, they have a way of erupting into a bigger mess than we could have imagined.

Hymn for Today: "I Am Resolved" by Palmer Hartsough.
1. I am resolved no longer to linger,
charmed by the world's delight;
things that are higher, things that are nobler,
these have allured my sight.
Refrain: I will hasten to Him,
hasten so glad and free;
Jesus, greatest, highest,
I will come to Thee.
2. I am resolved to go to the Savior,
leaving my sin and strife;
He is the true one; He is the just one,
He has the words of life.

Refrain: I will hasten to Him,
hasten so glad and free;
Jesus, greatest, highest,
I will come to Thee.
3. I am resolved, and who will go with me?
Come, friends, without delay;
taught by the Bible, led by the Spirit,
we'll walk the heavenly way.

Refrain: I will hasten to Him,
hasten so glad and free;
Jesus, greatest, highest,
I will come to Thee.
Thought for Today: For God will bring to judgment everything we do, including every secret, whether good or bad.
[Here is the final conclusion, now that you have heard everything: fear God, and keep his mitzvot; this is what being human is all about.]
(Ecclesiastes 12:14) (Complete Jewish Bible)).
Please pray: That many people in Ethiopia will come to know Yeshua as their Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
