2 Peter 3:1 Dear friends, I am writing you now this second letter; and in both letters I am trying to arouse you to wholesome thinking by means of reminders; 2 so that you will keep in mind the predictions of the holy prophets and the command given by the Lord and Deliverer through your emissaries.
3 First, understand this: during the Last Days, scoffers will come, following their own desires 4 and asking, “Where is this promised ‘coming’ of his? For our fathers have died, and everything goes on just as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But, wanting so much to be right about this, they overlook the fact that it was by God’s Word that long ago there were heavens, and there was land which arose out of water and existed between the waters, 6 and that by means of these things the world of that time was flooded with water and destroyed. 7 It is by that same Word that the present heavens and earth, having been preserved, are being kept for fire until the Day of Judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.
8 Moreover, dear friends, do not ignore this: with the Lord, one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day[2 Peter 3:8 Psalm 90:4] 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some people think of slowness; on the contrary, he is patient with you; for it is not his purpose that anyone should be destroyed, but that everyone should turn from his sins. 10 However, the Day of the Lord will come “like a thief.” On that Day the heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will melt and disintegrate, and the earth and everything in it will be burned up.
11 Since everything is going to be destroyed like this, what kind of people should you be? You should lead holy and godly lives, (Complete Jewish Bible).

As I have gotten older, my understanding of time as relative has become clearer. Depending on the situation, the clock or the calendar progresses like molasses dripping up hill in winter and at other times, it flashes by with the speed of hummingbird wings. I have come to accept that planning for events is with finite logic; what happens and when it happens msy be outdide of my control or awareness.
The theories of time, order, randomness, and the providence of God, however, do not supplant my confidence the sovereignty of God, the promise of Christ’s return, or God’s patience in bringing the day of judgment. There is rejoicing for each person who turns from sin’s destructive path, receives forgiveness, and follows Christ as Savior and Lord, that God has delayed a little longer. However, we must not become complacent with God’s delay. Parents-to-be must prepare for a new baby with changes to their living environment, activities, and schedule. Necessary adjustments must be made before the baby arrives-by the way, thry can come early. Holiness is a necessary lifestyle adjustment; it is the Christian’s way of actively waiting for Christ’s return.***
Hymn for Today: "O Christians, Haste" by Mary Ann Thomson.
1. O Zion, haste, thy mission high fulfilling,
to tell to all the world that God is Light;
that He who made all nations is not willing
one soul should perish, lost in shades of night.
Refrain: Publish glad tidings, tidings of peace,
tidings of Jesus, redemption, and release.
2. Behold how many thousands still are lying
bound in the dark-some prison-house of sin,
with none to tell them of the Savior's dying,
or of the life He died for them to win.
Refrain: Publish glad tidings, tidings of peace,
tidings of Jesus, redemption, and release.
3. Proclaim to every people, tongue, and nation
that God, in whom they live and move, is Love;
tell how He stooped to save His lost creation,
and died on earth that we might live above.
Refrain: Publish glad tidings, tidings of peace,
tidings of Jesus, redemption, and release.
4. Give of thine own to bear the message glorious;
give of thy wealth to speed them on their way;
pour out thy soul for them in prayer victorious,
and all thou spendest Jesus will repay.
Refrain: Publish glad tidings, tidings of peace,
tidings of Jesus, redemption, and release.
Thought for Today: turn from evil and do good,
seek peace and chase after it. (1 Peter 3:11) (Complete Jewish Bible)).
seek peace and chase after it. (1 Peter 3:11) (Complete Jewish Bible)).
