"Independence Day: Day 2"
"When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right." (Romans 6:20)
We were once slaves to sin. We had this darkness ruling over us, telling us what to do and where to go. For some of us, it's hard to remember what that felt like. We were saved at an early age and have lived lives of relative obedience ever since. But for others, those who came to Christ later or walked away and have found their way back, know exactly what it means to be a slave to sin. They've lived through the oppressive darkness that governs their days.
That's why when you hear their testimony, they talk about God differently. There's this sense of relief. Of a burden being lifted. They remember the chains of sin. And if we, as believers, are currently living in sin, we need to remember the weight around our wrists and our ankles. We need to remember that we have been set free from sin, because if we don't, we're just one step away from slipping back into it.
