"Incomplete Conversions" by Pastor H. Lamar Smith
I believe in the new birth. I believe in a moment of change. But I also know that all the changing that needs to happen in our lives does not happen in that first moment. We have been converted, and we are being converted. Grace is drawing us to change things in our life, break old habits, and add some new ones. Ongoing repentance is the path to that. Sanctification is the process. Ways of thinking are deeply entrenched as was the racism of Peter in Galatians 2:11ff. His behavior needed to be converted to Christian teaching. He believed it but was not yet practicing it.
Lord, I am so thankful that You are at work in my life, still shaping, still changing. Keep sanctifying me by Your truth for Your word is truth. Help me to become what You dream for me, oh Father.

"Neglect Not The Widow" Pastor H. Lamar Smith
“The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help” 1 Timothy 5:5 (NIV). You do not read far in the Old or New Testament without seeing that God is really concerned about widows. One of the first things the NT church did was to organize itself to take care of them. The widowed not only deal with grief and loneliness, but they deal with a whole set of problems just to survive. They are quickly forgotten. They are invisible in a room. They suffer in silence. List all the ones you know. Use your sanctified imagination to reach out to them in small and large ways.
“Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.“ (James 1:27 (NASB))
