In the hymn, “Come Thou Fount” there is a phrase which says, “Streams of mercy, never ceasing.” I am captured by the thought. The Fount produces an unending stream of mercy. Wow! We forget that we need mercy constantly flowing into our lives. We need mercy more than at the time of our conversion; we always need it. We need mercy for our lagging growth, for our mistakes, shortcomings and plain ignorance. Are you not amazed at God’s patience with you? Where would we be without it? Lord, have mercy! Lord, have mercy! Lord, have mercy!
“Our eyes look to the LORD our God, until he has mercy upon us. Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt.” (Psalm 123:2b-3 (NRSV))

"Limit Rejection’s Power" by Pastor H. Lamar Smith
Rejection is one of the most difficult things we have to face in life. We may be rejected by a spouse, friend, family or a group. The pain can be overwhelming. Jesus knew rejection at multiple levels. We tend to get stuck there. We focus on and blame the rejector. We can let it consume our thoughts and our days. We must not allow rejection to define who we are. We must determine not to fall in the trap of being the victim. We can use it to identify with our Lord and allow it to be a means of a deeper death to self as well as a means of personal growth in holiness.
“The Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” (Luke 9:22 (NRSV))
