Gaineville, Florida, United States - Trinity United Methodist Church "Tuesday Word" for Tuesday, 11 March 2014

Gaineville, Florida, United States - Trinity United Methodist Church "Tuesday Word" for Tuesday, 11 March 2014
Friends,
One of the greatest things about Trinity is our youth and Sonlight ministry.  With over 60 youth in Sonlight, the impact is amazing.  That large number plus chaperones means that they will need to take two buses on their Sonlight Tour to New York City.  Our congregation has always been and continues to be a strong supporter of Sonlight.  And they really need your help this year, more than ever.  This Sunday is Sonlight Sunday.  Members will help lead worship in all our services, they will be serving a Soup Lunch as a Fundraiser, and there will be envelopes from 1 - 100 (as in $) for you to take.  Thanking you in advance for helping shape the lives of our amazing youth.
As I type this, two huge mounds of mulch are sitting outside/beneath my office window.  It's to cover the new, Accessible Playground, at about 12 inches of depth.  Then the Wheelchair swing will go in, the Spinner Bowl, the Oodle Swing, the Bench Swing and other swings.  We still need help ($) with the Crooked Chapel and a few other things, but please be sure to stop by the playground and notice the changes as it comes into being.  It's very exciting, and will be a great gift to our church family and the community.
Rev. Aaron has created a powerful series for the Wednesday nights of Lent in the Chapel called Via Crucis (The Way of the Cross) - each Wednesday night of Lent at 6:35.
Is there someone you want to invite to Alpha?  I hope you will.  Alpha is for 3 groups of people: (1) those exploring our Christian Faith, (2) those wanting to get connected with other people here at Trinity in a safe, wonderful small group setting, and (3) those who want to go deeper in their faith.  Check it out, this Wednesday, 6 pm in the Atrium.
Also, please help us get word out to our friends and neighbors from the Philippines about the new Bible Study at Trinity: Life Changing Gathering, led by the Rev. Marvin Celso, a UM Pastor from the Philippines.  Wednesday, March 12, Education Bldg. Rm 222 - begins at 6:30.
Finally, I'm sure I'm not alone in loving the music of Pete Seeger, so, with you, I'm grateful Anna Moo is pulling together local musicians for a wonderful Tribute Concert here at Trinity:  Friday, March 21 at 7:30.  Tell your friends.
God bless, Dan

And then in the fall we will round out the year by celebrating Trinity's 15 year at our present site and 55 year as a congregation with a "Trinity's Photo Journey" showcasing our beautiful grounds and remembering our rich heritage. We encourage all of you to participate in both of these shows with your art work in April and your photographs in October. To showcase our grounds we are planning two "photo ops" in June and September, with guided tours of the property. COUNTY FAIR!  Stepping Stones Spring Program!  Thursday, March 20 5:30-7:00pm  Hold onto your hats! You're in for a "rootin' tootin"' good time at the Stepping Stones County Fair! We begin the evening with a picnic dinner that you provide for your family under the shady trees in front of the Worship Center. We will have a few picnic tables set up but encourage our families to bring blankets to sit on. We are also offering  box lunches (to be ordered and prepaid through the school office) as an option for your picnic dinner. Afterwards, the fair continues inside where parents view our blue ribbon exhibits with categories varying from recycled art, to gardening, to beekeeping.  Local farmers are also invited and bringing spring produce and information about their farms. All age groups have been working hard to learn songs and dances to perform. We ask children to wear jeans and white shirts if possible. We have color coordinated bandanas for each age group to wear. More information to come home soon. Monies from the Special Events Fee were used to defray the cost of this event.
Healing Touch Cancer Support group will meet on Thursday, March 20 at 5:30 in the O.Dean Martin Prayer Room off the Atrium. All cancer patients and survivors, family and friends are welcome for prayer and encouragement as we lean on Christ to help us.  Joanie Kniseley will be leading us in Affirmative Prayer for Everyday Health Care.
"Everyone knows at least one person that has cancer".  Perhaps, even, it might be you or you could be a cancer survivor.   It is a wicked disease.  The most positive thing that we can do to support our friend, family member, or co-worker who has it is to lift them in prayer into God's healing light.  Let the Order of St. Luke add our prayers to yours.  Very powerful!   Next Healing Service in the chapel is the second Sunday in April, the 13, Palm Sunday at 9:40.  Come! We will pray with you."
