Kansas City, Missouri, United States - The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown enote from Reverend Scott Chrostek for Wednesday, 26 March 2014
Greetings RezDowntowners,
Uh oh...guess what day it is? It's Wednesday and it's great to be writing you in the middle of the week. I hope this message finds you doing well! I am sending this special enote for two reasons:
First, I wanted to invite you to be a part of our volunteer community. Maybe you’ve heard Kelly Sisney mention from the stage that it takes more than 40 volunteers to make a worship service happen. Within the last year, we have added two additional worship services, which means that we now have five worship services every weekend. With these significant increases in worship attendance, we are looking to increase our volunteer involvement as well. I want to invite you to consider becoming a worship volunteer. Not only is this one of the best ways to become connected within this community, but this is also one of the best ways to help us live fully into our mission. Would you consider serving at one of our worship services? It could involve as little as one hour a month. Or if you already are volunteering, first off I want to thank you, but then I want to ask to see if you might consider inviting someone to join you in service?
As a way of learning more about our volunteer opportunities and saying 'yes,' click here. You can also visit our website. In the meantime, some of our greatest needs are as follows:
•Sunday 10:45am service – ushers, communion servers, greeters
•Sunday 11:15am service – ushers, communion servers
•KiDSCOR (childcare) – evening services (Saturday 5:10pm and Sunday 5pm)
•Data Entry –We need help inputting data for all services. This work can be done from home!
Thank you for taking a moment to consider where you may be best able to serve our community. If you have any other questions, please contact Jackie Thomas.
Secondly, I wanted to inform you that my Lenten Bible Study will not be meeting this Thursday evening. Due to a last minute scheduling conflict, we will have to postpone this week’s study, but we will resume next Thursday, April 3rd at 7:00pm.
I am so blessed to be a part of this community of faith and I am so excited to see where God leads us into the future this Lenten season. Regardless of where you are or what you're going through I'm excited to encounter God together in the wilderness as we move closer and closer to Easter! Happy Humpday and I'll plan to see you in worship on Saturday and Sunday!
Grace and Peace,
Scott
