Kansas City, Missouri,
Untied States - Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - “He Makes You Worthy” – Wednesday,
26 March 2014 - Scripture: Job 5:1 “Call now; is there any who will answer you?
To which of the holy ones will you turn?
2 For resentment kills
the foolish man,
and jealousy kills the simple.
3 I have seen the
foolish taking root,
but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4 His children are far
from safety.
They are crushed in the gate.
Neither is there any to deliver them,
5 whose harvest the
hungry eats up,
and take it even out of the thorns.
The snare gapes for their substance.
6 For affliction
doesn’t come out of the dust,
neither does trouble spring out of the
ground;
7 but man is born to
trouble,
as the sparks fly upward.
8 “But as for me, I
would seek God.
I would commit my cause to God,
9 who does great things
that can’t be fathomed,
marvelous things without number;
10 who gives rain on
the earth,
and sends waters on the fields;
11 so that he sets up
on high those who are low,
those who mourn are exalted to safety.
12 He frustrates the
devices of the crafty,
So that their hands can’t perform their
enterprise.
13 He takes the wise in
their own craftiness;
the counsel of the cunning is carried
headlong.
14 They meet with
darkness in the day time,
and grope at noonday as in the night.
“He Makes You Worthy”
by Mallory Sauer
Have you ever thought,
“How can someone as perfect and holy as God ever see me as anything but a
failure?” or “I can’t ask Him for anything because I’m so undeserving”?
God meets those lies
with three responses. First, He loves us unconditionally. “While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Second, He wants to have a deeply
personal relationship with us. “I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the
LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God” (Jeremiah 24:7). Third,
He wants to give us a blessed life. All we have to do is ask. “Ask and it will
be given to you” (Matthew 7:7). “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you
the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
God wants us to be
honest with Him. He longs for us to express our hopes and fears and desires. He
not only forgives, but He restores and blesses. Never feel like you are too
much of a “disappointment” to God to approach Him. Just tell Him what is on
your heart.
Hymn for Today:
“What a Friend We Have
in Jesus” by Joseph M. Scriven
1. What a friend we
have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs
to bear!
What a privilege to
carry
Everything to God in
prayer!
Oh, what peace we often
forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain
we bear,
All because we do not
carry
Everything to God in
prayer!
2. Have we trials and
temptations?
Is there trouble
anywhere?
We should never be
discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in
prayer.
Can we find a friend so
faithful,
Who will all our
sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every
weakness;
Take it to the Lord in
prayer.
3. Are we weak and
heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of
care?
Precious Savior, still
our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in
prayer.
Do thy friends despise,
forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in
prayer!
In His arms He’ll take
and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace
there.
4. Blessed Savior, Thou
hast promised
Thou wilt all our
burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be
bringing
All to Thee in earnest
prayer.
Soon in glory bright,
unclouded,
There will be no need
for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and
endless worship
Will be our sweet
portion there.
Thought for Today:
“This is the wonderful
truth about God. He Knows our hearts”(James Edlin and Janelle Mackay).
Prayer Needs:
Many people in Papua
New Guinea will come to know Jesus the Christ (Yeshua the Messiah) and receive
the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
