THIS WEEKEND, September 6-7, is our annual Faith Promise weekend! Our special guests this year will be Lindell & Kay Browning, Nazarene missionaries to the Middle East.

6:00pm: Cookout for teens with Lindell & Kay (Misemer home)
Sunday, September 7
9:15am: Special SS lesson for children with Lindell & Kay
10:45am: Worship service with Lindell & Kay
12:00pm: All-church luncheon with Lindell & Kay (Gym)
For this all-church luncheon, the NMI Council will provide the meat and beverages. They ask that you bring one of the following items, according to the first letter of your last name:
A-H: Dessert
I-R: Side Dish
S-Z: Salad

On Saturday, September 13, Dr. Chic Shaver will teach his Witness Without Fear seminar at Holiness Church of the Nazarene (6215 W 198th St, Stilwell, KS 66062). There will be a breakfast served at 8:30am, before the seminar begins at 9:00am. This free seminar will help you know how to tell when people are open to the Gospel, and how to approach people with confidence. You will also have the opportunity to hear the testimonies of several new converts. Please call Pastor Mike Fetting (913.787.5685) or Dr. Shaver (913.491.5021) to register.

God's Story, Your Story
From August 20 until September 24, Keith Fitzsimmons will be facilitating a study on Max Lucado's God's Story, Your Story at 6:30pm in the Southside Room every Wednesday night. Learn how the story that makes up your life is really God's story, both for and about you. Each week is a stand-alone lesson so come to any or all of the sessions.

Children of the Day
This fall, we will be offering two sessions of the Beth Moore study on 1 & 2 Thessalonians entitled "Children of the Day". Tuesday mornings at 9:15am, all ladies are invited to meet in the Westside Room for a time of fellowship, prayer, and Bible study. The Wednesday sessions will take place at 6:15pm and be open to men & women.

Lord, Change My Attitude
All men are invited to join in a new study on James MacDonald's Lord, Change My Attitude,facilitated by Phil Parke. The group will meet for 10 weeks, beginning on Wednesday, September 3 at 6:30am. They will meet at Edward Jones Financial Office located at 108 W Walnut St, Raymore, Missouri. For more information, contact Phil Parke.

PrimeTime ministries will be partnering with the Kansas City Rescue Mission this month by collecting rolls of toilet paper. The Rescue Mission estimates that they use approximately 12,500 rolls of toilet paper per year, costing up to $6,000. You are invited to join in helping them with this basic need by bringing packs of toilet paper to the east end of the sanctuary foyer, by the windows, and adding to the tower!

Times Square Sunday School class would like to invite you to a Hymn Sing hosted by Nazarene Theological Seminary on September 26 at 7:00pm. The music for the evening will be led by Dr. Keith Swantz. There will be light snacks and beverages served in the lounge immediately following this event. There will also be opportunities to tour the seminary and discuss the meaning and history of our hymns.

Nazarene Youth Conference
|
Next July, our teens will be joining around 9000 other teenagers from around the world for Nazarene Youth Conference in Louisville, KY. Through an experience overflowing with dynamic speakers, powerful worship services, high-energy concerts, and service opportunities, NYC 2015 can be a time of great transformation for our young people. Our youth group will be devoting the majority of their fundraising to this event for the next year. If you would be interested in learning more, or in helping to sponsor a teen, please contact Pastor Roland.

This fall, PrimeTime ministries will be hosting "Lunch & Learn" sessions on the third Tuesday of every month. The first meeting will be on September 16 at 12:00pm in the Southside Room. More info to come!

Christian Disciplines Class
|
For eight weeks in September & October, Dr. Doug Hardy will be facilitating an online learning experience based on his book,
Christian Disciplines: Creating Time & Space for God. The course is free and available to all. Nazarene district-licensed and ordained ministers can submit the certificate of completion for this course to their District Lifelong Learning Coordinator for up to 20 Lifelong Learning Hours. To enroll in the course, (1) go to ntsx.nts.edu, (2) create an account, (3) confirm the account from the email that will automatically be sent to you, (4) log back into NTSx, and (5) select the course "Christian Disciplines" and self-enroll.

Our Friends & Food meal will resume this Wednesday, August 13, at 5:15pm in the gym! Meals are $4.50/person or $15/family. Interested in helping to prepare a meal? Contact the church office (816.942.9022)!

If you have lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend you have probably found that there are not many people who understand the deep hurt that you feel. KC First's GriefShare group meets on Saturdays at 10:00am to pray, discuss, and watch videos on relevant topics.

Praying Together as a Family
The Prayer Chapel located on the West side of the sanctuary is always open for prayer. You are also welcome to gather in the sanctuary for a time of prayer every Sunday morning from 8am-9am.
Every Friday morning at 6:30am, a group of men meets at First Church for a time of sharing and prayer together over breakfast.
On the first Saturday of the month, a group of ladies meet at the Panera at 103rd & State Line for a time of fellowship and prayer.
