From Mike Ash: Worship Leader/Director of Community
October 17, 2014
Take a quick look at our upcoming events/activites below:
Hi Resurrection Blue Springs,
I’m writing this note on behalf of Pastor Penny as she and Bill are on vacation in San Diego. Hopefully they’ve had a refreshing get away. They will be back to join us for worship on Sunday.Thursday, Pastor Adam and Debi Nixon brought over 60 young pastors and clergy to our campus. They were here for training at Leawood and were visiting the West and Downtown campuses as well. It was such an encouraging time to share with them about all that God is doing among us and through us at Blue Springs! I got to brag about you and talk about how we are a welcoming, generous and inviting church!
This Saturday we will be gleaning a vegetable garden near Raytown. This is a fantastic opportunity to serve for the whole family. We will meet at the church at 9am and caravan to – 8500 Kentucky Ave, Kansas City, MO 64138. Anyone who would rather go there directly can meet at the location at 9:30am. Currently, the forecast for Saturday is a sunny 61 degrees, so it will probably be in the 50’s in the morning. We will be doing gardening activities so, bring gloves, wear comfortable layers and protective shoes that can get damp and dirty. If you can please bring gardening tools. You should label them with your name.
Here is a list of items to bring if you have them:
Wheel barrows
Chain saws (only if you’ve been chain saw trained)
Shovels, pruners, buckets, rakes, hoes
This should be a fun and rewarding day for all!
Just a reminder, as a way to encourage our first time visitors to enter at our main entrance where we’re fully staffed to welcome and provide hospitality with coffee and goodies, I would like to ask our members without children in KiDS COR and ourSunday volunteers to park on the east side of the lot on the far north end. An increased numbers of cars on the east side will draw to our main entrance and leave the best spots closer to the door open for our guests. I appreciate your willingness to make this change for our guests.

Committee Nominations Underway. The following committees are seeking candidates to serve beginning in 2015: Finance, Trustees, Staff Parish Relations, Foundation, Nominations, and Lay Delegates to Annual Conference. You can refer someone you know, or indicate your own interest in serving by completing an Online Interest Form by Sunday, October 19, atcor.org/committees. Most committee members will fill a three-year term, often after serving an additional preparatory year. Please note that you must be a member for at least two years prior to serving in a preparatory role, or three years before serving as a full voting member on a committee. If you have questions about this process, please contact Laura Gregory, our church’s Lay Leader, at nominations@cor.org or 913-345-8331.
Campus Advisory Team. We are seeking persons to serve a three-year term on our Resurrection Blue Springs Campus Advisory Team (CAT). The CAT helps develop the long-range vision of the Resurrection Blue Springs campus. In addition to strategic thinking and planning, members must be willing to raise and take on the questions and concerns for God’s work in our particular community, and be a conduit for communicating the vision and concerns within our community. If you have questions or recommendations, please contact Pastor Penny. For more information or to access an interest form, click here.

Family trips are available to Jamaica and Omaha, and youth ages 16 and older can travel with a parent or guardian in Honduras and Haiti. Teams fill up quickly so sign up soon. Pastor Penny and her husband Bill would love to have you join them on the Jamaica trip in January! Read about our partnership activities, check out trip blogs and find application forms at cor.org/globalimpact.
I encourage you be sure and join us in worship this Sunday as Pastor Adam will finish our series on the life and ministry of the apostle Paul. He will share how God’s Holy Spirit promises to empower and lead us no matter where our journey takes us.
