Let me begin with a word of thanks to your generosity through the past few weeks of the SAC Hunger drive. Dozens upon dozens of bags have come in and each one will bless a family in need! You also packed some 6,000 meals during the fall festival! Thank you to all of the "Harvest Crew" who planned, prepared, and served at the fall festival. It was incredible!! Pastor Adam continues this amazing series on the Apostle Paul and his call to serve Christ. I have really enjoyed the new learning’s and especially Paul's courage in the face of fear and death. Don’t miss this Sunday as we continue growing together and listening for the call on each of our lives from God. We will have a optional time of anointing following each service of worship on Sunday. This is always a meaningful experience to connect with the Holy Spirit.
Share the Warmth Winter Coat Drive - The weather is starting to get cooler, and soon it will be time to break out the coats, gloves and hats as we head into winter. Help someone stay warm by donating items for the Share the Warmth Coat drive. Clean out closets and donate items that don't fit or that you don't wear any more, or purchase a new coat that will make someone's life a little easier this winter. These items will be distributed into the community through our partner schools and organizations supported by our Clothing Ministry. The items of greatest need include: gently used winter coats, boots, mittens, gloves, scarves, blankets, and sleeping bags . Donated items are distributed directly into the community, so please be sure they are clean and ready to wear. Drop off donations in the mission bins located in the entry of Resurrection West by Oct. 26. Visitcor.org/collections for information.
Student Ministry Fall Retreats Metamorphosis is a weekend spiritual retreat for students at Youthfront Camp West in Edgerton, KS. This retreat is filled with worship, outdoor fun, small group time, and more. Hundreds will attend each weekend from all of four of our campuses. Don't miss Meta! Cost is $105 for lodging, meals and materials. For more information or to register, go to rezwest.org/students.
Join the Monday Morning Women's Bible Study – Join us to explore the book The Women of Christmas by Liz Curtis Higgs, an eight-week Advent study of Bible stories about Elizabeth, Mary and Anna. We meet every Monday, Oct. 13 – Dec. 1, 9:30-11:30 am in the Bible Theater. Contact Bette Tranbarger at btranbarger@kc.rr.com for more information. Upon the completion of the Advent study, we will gather at Libby Hawkins home for a Christmas brunch on Monday, Dec. 8.
Sign up for Saturday Morning Men's Group Fall Session – kicks off Oct. 25. This five-week men's study is based on the best-selling book Whyby Rev. Adam Hamilton. The book brings a fresh insight to the age-old question of how to understand the will of God as Pastor Adam explores the core ideas for comprehending God’s plan for the world. Join us in this journey of faith and fellowship. We meet downstairs from 8-9:30 am and will be serving breakfast catered by HyVee for a $5 donation. Cost of the book is $10. Pizza with the Pastor – Tuesday, Nov. 4, 6:30-8:30 pm. Are you considering joining Resurrection? Then consider attending the upcoming "Pizza with the Pastors". Finally, this past Sunday was an incredible celebration as we gave out Bibles to our 3rd graders. The children were so excited to receive this gift from their Church. Many have begun to read through the Gospel of Mark and when they’ve completed it we will have a special prize for doing so. They can approach any of the KiDS COR staff, pastor Chris, or myself to receive their prize.
This celebration is testimony to our growth at Resurrection West. Our children and students are growing in faith and in numbers! If you’ve ever wondered where you could serve at West, please consider the nursery, children and student ministries! Just let me know you are interested and I will get you connected to the right person. I believe this is so important as we strive to raise a generation of joy-filled disciples who will change the world for Christ!
