We ask the tough questions. And we'd like answers.

Sunday:
Samson, the hero who liked girls

This Sunday:

We finish out a short unit of study about the judges...ancient Jewish heroes.
We'll look at Samson's story this Sunday. I'll lead this one.
I've got the TV for us, and I'll use it to show a few maps and charts.
But mostly, we'll talk about Samson's story. It covers 4 chapters: Judges 13-16.
I'm still working on the lesson but I'll be expecting the group to begin by telling me Samson's story so we don't have to read the whole thing.
Then I'll ask a few questions. Here are some I have so far:
Q. In all of his story, at what point do you see him behaving unselfishly?
Q. Knowing his story, would you call him a hero or not?

Q. If you had been his best friend or big sister, what advice would you have given him at some point in his story? Pick an event and run with it. Maybe when he found out his bride had remarried or the Philistines had killed her.
Q. What character flaw was his biggest problem…something that got in the way of him making wise decisions?
Q. What character flaws get in our way and cause the most problems for us?
Q. God used Samson’s flaws to get his job done…driving a wedge between the Philistines and the Jews. Have you ever seen God use someone’s flaws in a good way, to accomplish something good?

REZCHAT CALENDAR

  • Second Sunday Social: Cookie exchange that weekend, will set date later

  • No class on Dec 21

Union Station map, Level 1
SHARI SCHLOTZHAUER at one of our stops along the way in Hermann, Missouri. Shari and her husband Gary joined our class outing. They made for wonderful guides when it came time to walk uphill in the dark, pulling our suitcases while the police stopped to ask if we knew where we were going. Gary knew. Everyone else had faith.

RezChat retreat: 14 Hermannators

OUR FIRST-EVER  RezChat retreat  was wonderful, relaxing, and entertaining.
Linda put the event together, and kept it together. She did a fine job, especially since this was her first time leading a group like this. We had 14 souls.
I kept wanting to tell her "good job" along the way, but I was afraid I'd jinx it. So I waited till we got back to KC.
   Good job, Linda.

Hermannators: The Video

If all goes well, on Sunday we'll have the premier of a 5-minute video I pieced together of our trip.
It's a mixture of video and photos along with a piece of music you can't buy anywhere. I tried. But the version I used for this video simply isn't available because it came from a live concert many, many, many decades ago. I captured the audio from a YouTube video of the concert.
You'll like the music if nothing else.
And I'm having a little fun at Terry's expense, compliments of the game "Catch Phrase." (He has already seen the rough cut, and approved.)
PS. No one got drunk, far as I can tell. Not even a little.
