Rev. Barber is recognized nationally as a leader of the modern civil rights movement, whose voice and passion remind many of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He is the author of Forward Together: A Moral Message for the Nation, in which he writes, "Love is better than hate. Hope is better than despair. Community is better than division. Peace is better than war. The good of the whole is better than the whims of a few."
