Trinity United Methodist Church of Gainesville, Florida, United States for Thursday, 15 January 2015 "Sanctifying Grace"
We might call Wesley's Aldersgate experience "Sanctifying Grace." We've mentioned earlier the concept of "Prevenient Grace" - the grace that "goes before," that reaches out to, engages us and others even when we are unaware of its presence, even before we know who God is; it tugs at us, nudges us, sometimes shouts at us to turn to God, to seek God.
"Converting Grace" or "Justifying Grace" is that Grace that moves in our hearts to say "yes" to God, to give our lives to God, to ask Jesus to forgive us our sins and determine to live for Him.
"Sanctifying Grace" is that grace that causes us, enables us to grow in our walk with God for the rest of our lives. It's also the grace that gives us an inner assurance that we are indeed God's child, God's beloved, an inner witness that we are His.
