"By grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life." (Ephesians 2:8-10)
You remember these verses, don't you? We spent a lot of time on the first part last week; this week, we'll focus on the last part: "created in Christ Jesus for good works."
Wesley got it - perhaps better than most - that God's grace is both inward and outward; it changes us on the inside to restore us to a healthy relationship with God, but that's not the end of it! There is the outward dimension: for good works, for works of mercy, to express love in action to those around us; to relieve suffering and injustice.
