EXCITING NEWS FOR A NEW YEAR
We’re so thankful you’ve worked alongside our team to promote restorative justice throughout 2015.
You and your fellow advocates contacted your legislators more than 5,000 times last year, sharing with them that criminal justice reform that restores individuals, families, and communities is important to you. Your voice was heard! We saw dozens of legislators sign on to co-sponsor bills as a result of your actions, and what a victory it was when the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee!
As we start the new year, we want to share some exciting news with you about our organization. In order to better serve our mission and leverage the role our organization plays in restoring all those affected by crime and incarceration, Justice Fellowship will now be called Prison Fellowship.
Prison Fellowship is the nation’s largest outreach to prisoners, former prisoners, and their families. Through a range of programs, we reach around 375,000 prisoners a year, and our Angel Tree program reconnects more than 300,000 children to their incarcerated parents. Meanwhile, our advocacy team has been welcomed and recognized for over 30 years as a leading national voice in criminal justice reform.
You may recall that Prison Fellowship founder Chuck Colson started Justice Fellowship in 1983 with a clear mission to advocate for a restorative criminal justice system. Over time, the two organizations have come under one management, and today we are reflecting that in one shared name.
Rest assured that this brand transition will not change our advocacy priorities. While the Justice Fellowship website has been consolidated within the Prison Fellowship website (www.prisonfellowship.org/advocacy) and the look of emails will soon change, we’ll still be bringing you criminal justice updates and opportunities to advocate for restorative justice, and we'll continue our daily work with legislators.
Please add advocacy@pfm.org to your safe-sender list to ensure you receive future emails from us!
We hope you will join us in celebrating the consolidation of our name to Prison Fellowship at such a critical time in our national debate on criminal justice.
Blessings,
Craig DeRoche,
Executive Director, Advocacy & Public Policy
