Happy Ne Year 2016, Friday, January 1, 2016
Dear Resurrection Blue Springs,
Happy New Year! I'm praying that 2016 brings abundant blessings to you all! It was 7 years ago this week that I began serving at Resurrection. After serving for 1½ years at our Leawood campus in Congregational Care, Bill and I came to Blue Springs to help start our Blue Springs campus. It's now 5½ years later and we are so grateful to be a part of this amazing church family. The time has gone so quickly. But you know what they say, "Time flies when you're having fun!" It has been so fun and rewarding to see the incredible growth and the mission and ministry that has been accomplished in these few years! I can only imagine what God will do in our future and I look forward to an amazing year with you in 2016!
This Sunday I will be preaching live at our campus with a sermon called “New Territory”. We'll be exploring how to best approach a New Year in order to live fully into it with everything we have and move closer to becoming all that God created us to be. All worship services, KiDS COR and Rezlife Sunday School resumes, so invite a friend and join us at 9am or 10:45am. We'll be celebrating Holy Communion at both services too.
Before we move on to what's coming up, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to the many volunteers that served to welcome over 700 people at this year’s Candlelight Christmas Eve services in Blue Springs. The services were beautiful and I know that some of you came at later times so that we were able to make room for everyone who attended. We had a total of 34,325 people at all campuses, a new record for our church. Thank you for providing a warm welcome for our guests.
Below you'll find several ways to connect to the life of this community in 2016!
- One last JOY in Serving opportunity tomorrow serving lunch at Grand Avenue Temple. We will carpool from church at 9am. Even though they do not need all of us there quite so early, it is easier going as a group. This will give people time to tour the church and to fellowship a little. We will serve lunch at 11:30am until 1pm. Then clean up until about 1:30pm. We will serve approximately 200 sojourners, plus our own group. For those bringing food for Lazarus Table, please have it to the church by 8:30-8:45am. That way we have time to load it into the vehicles. If you prefer to meet there the address is 205 E. 9th St. KCMO.

- New Sermon Series: Facing Issues That Divide | Building Bridges and Tearing Down Walls – Starts January 10, 2016 and runs throughFebruary 7, 2016. Politics and religion are two topics many say should never be mixed, but beginning on January 10th that’s what we’re going to do! As we enter an election year, issues divide us and civility gets lost in the rhetoric. Can we disagree and still find common ground? What does Jesus call us to do? Where can we stand united? Join us as we take a thoughtful look at critical issues facing our country, learn from one another and build bridges that unite us as one nation under God.
