Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
I hope your Friday is off to a great start. Bill and I are looking forward to a great weekend in the city with his cousins. They have all come to town to enjoy some time together. The childhood stories have been flying fast and furious already! We've got a great weekend planned for our community too. Saturday our Faithwork crew is headed to Independence to work on a Truman Heritage Habit for Humanity Home. The group is carpooling from the parking lot at 8 am. You'll find the details below, if you'd like to join the crew.
Then on Sunday Pastor Adam begins a new series, Second Chances. The series will focus on gospel stories where Jesus offers second chances – redemption and restoration for people others might have written off. The first sermon of the series will focus on divorce. We’ll look at the various passages about divorce in the Bible and Jesus’ ministry with a woman who had been divorced five times. If you’ve been divorced, or you know someone who has been or is going through a divorce, this sermon will offer hope.
This weekend, we are also launching a new way to give your tithes, offerings and capital campaign commitments to the church electronically. Using a simple and secure tool called “Pushpay” you can now give by texting from your mobile device, online from your computer or by using the Pushpay app.
The Pushpay option will make it easier for those who want to give electronically. You can create your own account and store your payment methods or you can give as a guest. Pushpay will replace RezAccess and Paypal accounts, which will provide efficiencies and cost savings for our church.
To set up Pushpay, you simply text COR to 77977 from your mobile device or go to www.cor.org/giveonline. We’ll have information in worship this weekend with step-by-step instructions on using Pushpay or you can go to the website at cor.org/pushpay to learn more.
Invite a friend and join us for the new series. In the meantime, take a look at what's coming up . .
Band of Brothers Men’s Study Group meets Tuesdays from 6:30-8 pm, and is starting a new study on the book of Jeremiah. All men are welcome any time. ContactMike.Ash@cor.org for more information.
Silverlink Volunteers Needed Would you be willing to help with a monthly worship service for the residents at Benton House Care Facility? We need a couple of volunteers who might be available to help with this worship servce for the residents and possibly read a scripture or lead singing, or generally be there as added hands. We could also use a pianist who could play hymns for the service. If you have interest, please contact Pastor Penny.
Choosing Gratitude Thursdays, April 7-May 26 (no class on April 28), 6:30-8 pm. Ladies, join Bible study leader and Christian motivational speaker, Patricia Sanders-Hall, in a course structured as a follow-up to Resurrection’s 2016 Inspired for Life Women’s Conference with the theme of “Gratitude.” Whether you attended the conference or not, this study will explore practical tips, stories and scripture, which teach us how to practice gratitude as a life style so we can stay on the path to inner peace, hope and faith. Each class is designed to be self-contained, so missing a session will not cause you to fall behind. You can purchase Nancy Leigh DeMoss’s book, Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy, for $15 at Guest Services (coming soon). Register here or at Guest Services on Sunday.
April FaithWork - Join us for work on a Habitat for Humanity project on Saturday, April 9. Holy Land Tour - November 14-23, 2016. Pastor Penny and Bill are excited to journey on the Church of the Resurrection's next Holy Land Tour with our campus. We will be joining with members of our West campus and Pastor Jason Gant as we journey together. Information is available at the Guest Services desk or online here.
