Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown of Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Friday, April 8, 2016

Greetings RezDowntowners,
I am returning to Kansas City this morning after spending the last two days in Durham, NC visiting Duke as a part of my role on the National Alumni Council. It was great to visit with several students and to dream about the future of the church and best strategies for raising up a new generation of church leaders! Thank you for allowing me the time to live into this important calling and passion of mine. That said, I am really looking forward to getting back to Kansas City later today!
This weekend in worship we are kicking off a new sermon series focusing on Second Chances. Generally speaking, it is widely understood that humans aren't perfect. We tend to make mistakes, mess up, hurt ourselves and others. We sometimes end up feeling unlovable, broken or maybe even worthless - like an old piece of furniture set out on the curb. Thankfully God is a God of the second chance. The Easter message is that no matter where we are or what we've done, God sees beyond our imperfections, loves us and offers us a new life. Invite friends and join us this weekend as we dive into Scriptural stories of second chances! To watch and share a video promoting this series, click here.
Finally, this weekend we are also launching a new way to give your tithe, offering and commitments to the church electronically. Using a simple and secure tool called “Pushpay” you can now give by texting from your mobile device, online from your computer or by using the Pushpay app. This option will make it easier for those who want to give electronically. To set up Pushpay, you simply text COR to 77977 from your mobile device or go to www.cor.org/giveonline. We’ll have information in worship this weekend with step-by-step instructions on using Pushpay or you can go to the website at cor.org/pushpay to learn more.
In the meantime, here are a variety of ways to get connected to the life of our church:
Women’s Breakfast Series – Join us this Saturday, April 9, as Pastor Anne speaks with us about how to spice up our prayer life. We meet from 9-10:30 am at 1522 McGee. Please bring friends and a breakfast item to share. If you don’t have time to grab an item to share, come anyway, as we always have plenty. For more information, contact Michele Janson at mjanson@everestkc.net.
