Resurrection Blue Springs,
Greetings on another beautiful Friday morning! It's been a good week of ministry beginning with the amazing worship we had on Mother's day last Sunday. Adam's message about the advocacy of three amazing mothers, one from scripture and two from our Resurrection congregation, and the special music with the photo montage of mothers was powerful. I hope you took to heart the reminder to be thankful, to savor the little moments and interruptions that bring us joy and to look for ways to share your love this week. I tried to be more mindful myself this week and was rewarded with some precious moments.
There has been a flurry of activity getting things ready for our two serving opportunities this next week at Wendell Phillips Elementary school. Wendell Phillips is one of our partner schools in the inner city. We'll be hosting a fun day for the students on Monday and a Packing party for the teachers on Thursday with our Downtown campus. The missions team, that has been working hard on the front end of this project, was thrilled to find out this week that Slugger will be coming out for a visit with the kids and the Royals have offered a plastic bat and ball for every student at the school. This will be a fun surprise! Sign up this weekend if you'd like to help with either of these serve projects. I also want to thank those who came out yesterday to give blood. It's amazing to think that this month Church of the Resurrection is targeted to exceed 35,000 pints of blood with our blood drives across the four campuses. This represents a lifesaving impact on a lot of lives!
This weekend in worship we’ll be concluding our sermon series on Second Chances. One of the things I love about our faith is that our God is a God of second chances, do-overs and new beginnings. I've appreciated the sermons each week of the incredible tales past and present of the ways that God has transformed people and their lives. This gives hope for you and me! This Sunday we'll take a look at Peter, the disciple who denied Jesus not once, not twice, but three times! I'm excited to have the opportunity to preach live on this implusive disciple of Jesus who had such an epic failure but was given a second chance to turn things around. And turn them around he did! I hope you'll join me for worship. It’s also Graduation weekend and Pentecost this Sunday as well. So, wear your red to represent the power of the Holy Spirit and bring your graduates, as we’ll have gifts to give to all High School and College graduates celebrating a graduation this year! If you're a High school or college graduate and you haven't already done so, send me a picture and a note of your plans.
Take a look at what else is coming up below....

We will be going to Wendell Phillips Elementary to help lead the Fun Day there. It will be outdoors, weather permitting, and will have various stations. The Kindergartners through 3rd graders will participate in the morning and the 4th through 6th graders will be in the afternoon. The Fun Day starts at 9am and concludes at 4pm. Pack It Up Party for Wendell Phillips Elementary – Thursday, May 19. The KCMO school district is closing Wendell Phillips Elementary and moving the staff and students to Crispus Attucks Elementary, (will be renamed Phillips@Attucks). We will be helping teachers make this transition, one that is not only physically difficult, but emotionally difficult as well. Many hands make light the work, so let’s lighten these teachers’ loads as we work side by side. We’ll carpool/caravan from the church at 8:30 am, and start around 9 am (work as long as needed or as your schedule permits). We will have a light lunch there. Sign up at Guest Services or online here.

We will be joining with members of our West campus and Pastor Jason Gant as we journey together. There are already 30 registered for the trip.
