Dear Saint Paul Community,
I extend greetings from Saint Paul School of Theology, where you will currently find us in the normal, hectic end of the spring semester. The flurry of activity has students finishing papers and preparing for exams, professors designing class sessions and grading assignments, and all of us anticipating the commencement exercises in Kansas on May 20th and Oklahoma on May 27th.
Many positive things are happening at Saint Paul, including a renewed sense of the value of the seminary and its mission, as well as a promising outlook for the future. We are extremely proud to say that 98% of our students received some form of scholarship money or financial aid. We are thankful for every gift that is given to help students fulfill their calls to ministry.
On April 26th we had our Scholarship Luncheon. It was a chance to thank all the donors that make scholarships possible through their direct donations to scholarships and endowments. The luncheon gave donors a chance to meet the students that their donations are impacting. Master of Divinity student Amie Littrell gave a very moving speech explaining her journey to ministry and thanking Ron and Sharon Hennig for supporting her as a Saint Paul Fellow. Both Amie and Ryan Baxter serve as Saint Paul Fellows at Church of the Resurrection
We gathered on April 28th for the 2nd Annual Celebrate Saint Paul event for SaintPaul at Oklahoma City University. Over 60 guests were in attendance. The Saint Paul Fellows Program was once again in the spotlight. Imagine the perfect conditions for attending seminary: an award of full tuition, fees, and books; an appointment to a thriving local church; mentoring by an experienced pastor; and exposure to the way theology and practice of ministry work together. Current students Matthew Patrick and Michael Carpenter are living this opportunity through the Saint Paul at OCU MDiv program and their respective appointments at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church and Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City. The Bishop Robert Hayes, Jr. awardswere presented to Larry Lemon, on behalf of the Martha Jean Lemon Scholarship Endowment, and Bill Junk, on behalf of the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation, for establishing the first Saint Paul Fellows in Oklahoma.
This week we celebrated students for their many achievements at our annual All Campus Honors and Awards Ceremony. Many of the awards came with scholarship or educational funds to help further their seminary education. To view the many student award recipients visit our facebook page.
We invite you to pray for students and faculty-as we will pray for you-and to tell others about Saint Paul. We are thankful for all your gifts to us and hope you know that you are always a welcome guest here.
