Cara Ruth Hutchinson Perkins, 78, the spouse of a retired clergy member of Scottsbluff, NE died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at her home. Born in Lincoln, NE on January 3, 1938 to Birdie and D. E. Hutchinson.
Cara graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School, 1955. She married Tom Perkins Sept. 8, 1957. Cara attended UNL school of Home Economics; graduated with a B.S. in Child Development from Texas Woman's University, 1959; received a K-8 Teaching Degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University; a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She taught elementary and special education classes for 33 1/2 years in Dallas, Texas; Fontana, Kansas; Omaha Westside, and Scottsbluff, NE.
She had many responsibilities in various churches Tom served as pastor: Era-Spring Creek, Texas, Chester-Hubbell, NE, Fontana- Beagle, KS, Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Maplewood, Omaha, and Chaplain, Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff, NE.
Cara is survived by her husband the Rev. Thomas Perkins, her sons Tom II and his wife Susan, Lance and his wife Rita, and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held June 11th at 10 a.m. in Scottsbluff, Nebraska location to be designated later. Memorials may be sent to Western Nebraska Community College Foundation, 1601 E. 27th St., Scottsbluff, NE 69361 or to Delta Gamma Kappa’s Cradle Catcher Books for Babies program in care of Marcia Schlictemier, 2617 Ave. D., Scottsbluff, NE 69361.
Rev. Dale Lee Clare, 82, a retired clergy member of the Great Plains Annual Conference passed away peacefully at his home at Terrace Grove in Logan, UT, on Saturday. April 30, 2016.
Dale was born Dec. 10, 1933, to Alva Lee and Ruth Maude (Turner) Clare in Medora, Kansas. He graduated from Hutchinson High School, Southwestern College with a BA in sociology and Drew University with a Master in Sacred Theology.
In 1955 he married Nanon Bird in Sublette, Kansas. He was an active ordained minister in the United Methodist Church for 46 years.
His served churches in Englishtown, New Jersey, Long Island, New York, in East Hampton, chaplain in the Navy, Minneola, KS, Oberlin, KS, Scott City, KS, and Johnson, KS. He retired in 1998 and moved to Garden City, KS. In 2005 Dale and Nanon moved to Logan, UT, to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Nanon (Bird) Clare. He is survived by his three daughters, Dr. Lisa Clare, DVM, Lori Cross (Kerry), and Linda Clare, and two grandchildren.
Burial will be in Banner Cemetery south of Sublette, KS. Funeral services will be posted when they have been arranged.
