Beth Immanuel NewsletterI Newsletter: Tevet 5775 - January 2015

Shalom Beth Immanuel Friends, and happy civil new year.

New Year Fast Day

We celebrated the Jewish new year a few months ago at Rosh HaShanah, but the civil new year and beginning of 2015 begins this week with two significant dates on the Messianic Jewish Calendar. We conclude 2014 with a remembrance of the Master’s chief apostle, and we initiate the new year 2015 with fasting and prayer. The civil year 2014 concludes on Wednesday, December 31, corresponding to the Jewish date of Tevet 9. Some legends associate the ninth of Tevet with the death of Simon Peter. Read about Simon Peter’s Yahrzeit here, and remember Simon Peter this New Year’s Eve. January 1 this year corresponds to Tevet 10, the biblical fast of the tenth month. You can read about the fast day at here.
Remember that you can find Jewish calendar dates by accessing the Beth Immanuel online calendar tool.

Wednesday Night Plugged-In

A new Beth Immanuel worship service and teaching time will begin Wednesday, January 14. The Wednesday night service will feature new songs and worship with Troy Mitchell and Friends, a children’s program, and all-new teachings from Pastor Lancaster. If you are in Western Wisconsin or the Twin Cities area, join us on Wednesday nights for powerful praise, worship, and teaching.
