This has been an amazing year at NTS and it’s hard to believe that I have been here for almost a whole year. As we look over all that God has accomplished in and through NTS this past year we are very grateful. Here are just a few highlights:
- The 2014 Seminarian Offering hit $190,000 – the highest since the recession. Thank you! Click here to get information on the 2015 Offering.
- We were able to raise $100,000 for the President’s Leadership grant, which brought several top-notch students from all of our Nazarene institutions to NTS.
- Our Latin American DMin cohort met for their final course before beginning their projects which will have a practical application to their current ministry setting. We also launched the Kansas City Spanish DMin Program.
- The NTS community sponsored travel to Germany and England to study the Reformation and Wesley. To learn about upcoming travel opportunities, email us at development@nts.edu.
- Our Kansas City campus, with donated funds, underwent major renovations including a $250,000 upgrade to our library.
- The NTS Center for Pastoral Leadership kicked off its work, partnering with a Lilly Foundation grant that is allowing us to address issues of student and pastoral debt.
- We hosted our second annual Preachers Conference, focusing on incarnational leadership. Next year's conference will be September 29-30, 2015.
- The board voted unanimously to bring to a conclusion the discussion of the relocation of NTS and committed the Seminary to remaining at 1700 East Meyer Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri.
We must remain committed to our mission. NTS, in its founding, was given the commission of preparing “more and better preachers.” We serve the Church primarily through the preparation of women and men for ministry. We are preparing kingdom leaders. To carry out our mission means that we invest in our students; certainly in their academic development, but also in their spiritual, personal and professional formation. Our commitment to our students is not only to what they know, but also to who they become as followers of Jesus Christ, serving in the Kingdom. It’s all about our students!
Please partner with our students as they prepare for ministry in and to the Church—THEY NEED YOU! As you consider the many options you have for year-end giving, please include NTS in your plans. Click here to GIVE NOW before the end of 2014.
May you sense the hope and peace of Christ throughout the New Year,
Carla Sunberg
President
