Phineas F. Bresee, 1886-1890
Rev. Phineas F. Bresee was born on December 31, 1838 in Franklin, NY. Bresee started preaching in Iowa at the age of 23, but moved to California in 1883. He came to Pasadena after pastoring at First Methodist Church of Los Angeles. In the four years he led the Pasadena church the congregation grew from 150 members to more than 700 members.
