The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown of Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Friday, 30 January 2015 an enote from Pastor Scott Chrostek

Friday, January 30, 2015,
Greetings RezDowntowners,
I hope this email finds you doing well on a beautiful Friday morning in Kansas City.  It has been a full week here at RezDowntown, and it really began last Sunday afternoon as we welcomed 32 new people to the life of our church through Coffee With the Pastors.  It is so awesome to celebrate with so many people as they take a big step in their faith journey by joining this community and affirming their faith in God.  This week we also kicked off two new community groups (A Daring Way and A Disciples Path) with great momentum and it reminded me of how important and life-giving it is to grow in the knowledge and love of God throughout the week in the comfort of community.  If you haven’t been a part of a mid-week community group, I want to invite you consider joining one of our upcoming studies.
This weekend we’ll be concluding our sermon series on Half-Truths by focusing on the saying, “Love the Sinner, Hate the Sin.”  It will be a powerful weekend to be in worship with several baptisms and some great music.  If possible, please consider worshipping at our evening services on Saturday at 5:10pm, Sunday at 5:00pm or at our Grand location at 10:15am.  Also as a reminder, we’ll be moving up our Sunday evening worship time to 4:00pm in order to make room for the Super Bowl.  So, join us in worship on Sunday night at get home in time for the big game!
Lastly tomorrow we’ll be hosting a training event for anyone who is interested in serving with Wendell Phillips Elementary School.  Just one hour a week has the potential to change the life of a Child. To receive training and learn more about getting involved at the school, plan to come to a meeting at 1522 McGee tomorrow from 9-11 am. A representative from Kansas City schools will be there and Pastor Todd will provide training and insights for working with people in the urban core. To register for the training or to ask questions, contact Jan Burchett by email atjburchett@kc.rr.com.
In the meantime, here are some ways to connect to the life of this church:
Souper Bowl Food Drive – Donations accepted through this Sunday - February 1st. Food donations can be brought back to Connection Point at the weekend services at 1522 McGee and 1508 Grand, or you can drop it by our office at 1508 Grand during normal business hours Monday – Thursday. No time to shop? You can also provide a cash donation by using the Souper Bowl Envelopes at our Connection Point. For a list of items needed, visit cor.org/souperbowl or contactTodd.Maberry@cor.org with questions.
Super Bowl Sunday Night: Worship will be an hour earlier, 4:00pm. Sunday Evening Worshippers can come for worship and not miss the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 1. We will have our 5 pm worship service at 4 — you can worship with us and still be able to watch your favorite team (or commercials)!
Change the World in KidsCOR.  Join us on Saturday and Sunday evening worship services by volunteering at KidsCOR in the evening. Even if you worship on Sunday mornings, we could use your help once or twice a month with KiDS COR during the evening services. If you would be interested in helping out, contact Kris.Drummond@cor.org. Our littlest members are in need of four-square players and castle builders. No prior playing experience necessary.
