May 31st // 5:00a-10:00a
The Rock and Roll Half Marathon is going through our streets again this year! You have three options how to spend the early morning of May 31st:
1. Sleep through it
2. Stand in front of your house (or a friend's) and watch them go by
3. Participate in our neighborhood water station!!!
Once again, Normal Heights Community Association, with the leadership of Norma Stafford, is teaming up with the well-oiled machine of the Rock and Roll Marathon and running an official water station. They are looking for volunteers to help at mile marker 4 at North Mountain View & the West End of Arthur. At least 50 people are needed, can you step in?
Though early, this event is FUN! It is very organized, fast-faced, and a good way to meet people in the neighborhood. Also, it's inspiring to see thousands of people try their best to run for miles, dress up in crazy costumes, struggle for a cause, or just better themselves. They are appreciative of any encouragement given along the way. Grab your crazy jungle/safari clothes and decor and help earn prize money for the community for your enthusiasm, station set up, and cleanliness! The prize money would be awarded to the Normal Heights Community Association for use in our community.
Please sign up today and bring a friend! You can sign up directly at this link. If you would rather have Norma sign you up, please send her all of the following information:

Starting June 6th // Sunset
Movie nights are back for a third summer!!! The Normal Heights United Methodist Church and the Normal Heights Community Association have teamed up with Adams Avenue Park & Rec. to bring you two movies a month in the park all summer long. This is a great opportunity to get out, join your neighbors, enjoy your local parks and have a fun, free evening under the stars. Normal Heights United Methodist will be hosting the first movie of the summer, Big Hero 6 on June 6th, starting at sunset in Adams Park. Everyone is encouraged to bring a blanket, food and a friend.. and of course, the evening wouldn't be complete without an intermission dance party! Faith on Tap is a bi-monthly event, where we participate in casual theological discussions over a pint of local beers and munchies. It’s a great place to meet people in the community, and to bring your friends! Faith on Tap is held in East County on 2nd Thursdays, and locally near Adams Avenue on 4th Thursdays. If you’d like directions or more info, please email Pastor Brent. Everyone is welcome at this event!
Tuesdays // 10:00a-11:30a
Meet neighbors with your little one! All toddlers, 1-2 years are welcome to come and play in the playroom. No agenda, just an enclosed space to let your toddler do their thing with others and different toys. You get to talk with other adults and get out of the house! Also, if you have an infant in tow, there’s lots of eyes and hands around to help you out! You’re not alone during this busy stage of your life!
Thursdays // 10:00a-11:30a
We have a new play group! This one is similar to Tuesday's Toddler Playgroup, but for all children from rolling to walking (ages 0-5). We meet on Thursdays in the playroom. Please drop by any time, there's no agenda. We're just letting the babies and kiddos play, while caregivers get to hang out and chat with one another!
Fridays // 10:00a-11:30a
We are a group of preschoolers ages 2-4 (give or take) who play, eat, and learn together with a loved one (mom, dad, nanny, grandparent, etc.) Every week there will be a theme, which a story, snack, song, and craft will work together to learn more about that topic. We start and end with a little free-play and hangout time. Younger siblings are welcome but know this is geared for older children.

Most likely you gave it to me in person. I've been walking around the neighborhood getting to know my neighbors, and many were kind enough to share their contact info with me.
