Rez Blue Springs Headed to the Holy Land in Fall of 2016

Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
I drove by one of the neighborhood pools this week and it was packed with children. The pool being open has always been an official sign for me that the season is changing. It's hard to believe but Memorial Weekend is upon us, the final days of school are here and graduations are happening all over our city. With these milestones, not only does the weather change but other changes are brewing as well.
I'm sad to share with you today that Clark Johnson, our Technical Producer at Resurrection Blue Springs, will be transitioning off of our staff. This Sunday is his last official Sunday as staff but he will be contracting with us for a couple more weeks to aid in our transition. Clark graduated this last Sunday from UMKC with a degree in electrical engineering and has taken a full time position with Accent Controls in Riverside. Clark has been a joy to work with these last couple of years. He has invested wholeheartedly in the mission and vision of our church and the fruits of his work are evident throughout our building with the upgrades he has made to our audio/visual and lighting systems. We will be searching for a replacement for his position and praying that we can find another person with the gifts, talents and heart Clark has brought to the position. Please join me in thanking him for his service to the Kingdom. We hope we'll continue to see him occasionally in worship!
This Sunday we celebrate one of the three great festivals of the church year, the Day of Pentecost. Coming 50 days after Easter and ten days after the Ascension of Our Lord, it is the celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit to Christ's followers, the birth of Christ's Church in the world, and our mission together. This was a period of transition and new beginnings for the early church. I'll be preaching live at our campus and we'll be recognizing our graduates who find themselves in a similar place at this time. Come hear how the Spirit of Pentecost effected these new believers and how it still moves amongst us today.
If you are traveling this weekend, we pray that your travels will be safe and that your time away will be a source of renewal. If you are going to be in worship this Sunday, wear something red as we celebrate the coming of the Spirit. This Sunday is also a "Family Worship Sunday" where we give our KiDS COR children’s Sunday school leaders a respite and invite all children 5 years and up to worship with their families. KiDS COR activity packets will be available in the entry way for children. Nursery is available for 4 years and under.

Dinners for Eight for couples and singles – The agenda is good conversation, great food and wonderful fellowship as we get to know each other in a casual setting. Groups meet once a month for three months for dinner. Each month a rotating host offers their home and the main dish at a date/time decided upon by the group. Everyone else brings the sides. We’ll assign three couples/singles; the host(s) for each month will invite a fourth couple to round out the group. After the three months, groups will be re-formed so that new people can be added and get the opportunity to join in the fun. New groups forming now to begin meeting in June.
