Cocal Gracias is a ministry based in Honduras that began with the vision of Brian Ruark and Joel McGinty, who grew up at First Church. We are hosting a fundraiser for the mission here in the Family Life Center . Enjoy desserts, drawings, and a silent auction. Also, Brian and Joel will both be in attendance and will share about their vision and work.
RETURN RE-ADVENTING FUNDS
This Sunday, January 10, bring your funds, accumulated from using the ReAdventing Calendar throughout Advent, to either the Classic or New Celebration service. We'll combine all funds then share the blessing this year with the following organizations: IRC (International Rescue Committee), Briar Creek Road Baptist Church Rebuilding Fund, Compassion International and SDFC's benevolence fund.

Mark your calendars for January 31st, immediately after the New Celebration Service (held in Brown Chapel). All are welcome! This is our annual BIG fundraiser for Children's and Teens camp scholarships. · District Women's Retreat: Join us March 11-13 here in town at the Town & Country Hotel for an important time of discipleship and building community. We will participate in the Friday night, Saturday day, & Sunday morning sessions, but since it is local we will stay in our own homes .$100covers all workshops, main sessions & meals. · Sip & Swap: The new year is a great time to clean out your closets and refresh your style! On Saturday, January 30 from 6:30-8:30pm, in theEllipse bring your gently-used clothing and accessories and pick up some new ones - for free! We'll sip hot beverages, help each other "shop", and hear about the good work that the nonprofit organization My Girlfriend's Closet is doing. Any unclaimed items will be donated to My Girlfriend’s Closet, which provides clothing for women in need. You can bring your items in advance to the Hub (or bring them on the night of the event).
WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT SDFC
· Dinners: Dinners are back this week! Cheeseburger Soup and Salad are on the menu. Full plate = $5, Half plate =$3. Dinner served 5:30-6:30pm.
· Adult/Teen Choir: All are welcome to join the choir from 6:30-8:00pm. Rehearsals are in the Ellipse and the choir sings on Sunday mornings in the 9am Classic service.
· Mid High: Our youth group for 6th through 8th graders is back on!
· Kid U: Starting February 10, Session 1: Food Around the World begins. To register, visit our website.
· Adult Workshops: Mark your calendars forFebruary 10, when our spring series of classes taught by our own members on a variety of subjects will begin.
SPOTLIGHT ON
TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS:
Our Mid High and Senior High teens and youth staff are heading to Ponderosa Pines Camp next weekend for winter retreat. There are still a few spots left if you want to register! Please pray for safety and an awesome movement of God in our young people’s lives.
1722, our Sunday night gathering for those ages 17 to 22, is kicking off spring semester January 17th at 7pm. Our time spent together eating dinner, learning with Pastor Melissa, reflecting in small groups, and having fun has been a wonderful new addition to our church life. Please pray for our young adults as another year begins.
