The Reverend Jerry Lee Bever, 75, a retired clergy of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference, of Sycamore, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Jerry was born Aug. 27, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Merwyn Bever and Florence L. (Cloninger) Bever.
Jerry was a teacher for sixteen years in the Independence, KS School District, and worked weekends at the Coffeyville Stock Yards. Following his teaching career, he worked as Plant Manager at Prestige Cabinets and later at Grandview Products. Jerry then received his calling into the ministry, serving Sedan, Wauneta, Cedar Vale, and Elgin of Kansas where he ministered until his retirement in 2015.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Bever on March 30, 2007. He is survived by two daughters; Becky (Jim) Butts of Cherryvale, Kansas, Christy (Robert) of Independence, Kansas; one son, John (Rayvenna) Bever of Elk City, Kansas.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, Mar. 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Liberty United Methodist Church, 4th & Main St., Liberty, Kansas with the Rev. Bill Booe officiating. Jerry has been cremated and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
