Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West in Olathe, Kansas, United States - Friday, 20 May 2016

Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West in Olathe, Kansas, United States - Friday, 20 May 2016

Resurrection West,
I hope this eNote finds you well. In the Gant household we are celebrating Hailey’s last day as a 4th grader and Kaia finishing the 1st grade. They are both excited for summer activities including a week at our own Vacation Bible Camp and Sports Camp, along with what will be Hailey’s first overnight summer camp experience at Youthfront Camp South! We are mindful and grateful today for all of our teachers and school administrators. We have many who worship with us at RezWest and what they do is so important in the lives of our kids and teens. If you know a teacher, reach out and share an encouraging word as they transition into summer!
This Sunday Pastor Adam will be preaching a message around the issues we are facing as the United Methodist Church. He has just returned from General Conference, our official body of representatives that meet every four years to pray, worship, and set the course forward for our faith tradition. This will be an important message as we are debating many issues within our tradition. One of those challenges is in regards to homosexuality, so parents please know this will be discussed within the sermon on Sunday. KiDSCOR Sunday School is available at all services. Also plan to stay after worship this Sunday to support our rezlife student ministries mission trip cookout as they plan to go and serve this summer!
Walls are beginning to emerge on the south side of our phase II building project this week and I have attached a couple of pics at the bottom of this eNote. Please continue to pray for the safety of those working on the building development. We will be writing prayers on steel beams to be placed within the building coming up soon on Sunday, June 12th
I regret to share with you that Chris Monson, program director for worship and events, will be transitioning off staff in the next few weeks. We are sad to see her move off of our staff team, but glad to know she will remain involved across our church. In fact, she’s leading a mission team from West to Honduras in June! I am so grateful for Chris’ commitment to the mission of our church and her excellence in ministry. Chris and her family are part of what makes our church such a special place as they give hours upon hours volunteering across ministry areas. Here are some words Chris wanted to share…
“After spending much time in prayer, reflection and conversation I have reached the conclusion that it is time for me to step away from my staff position at Resurrection West. As I move ahead, I am looking forward to spending time with my family, regaining balance in my personal and faith life and pursuing new projects and opportunities. I feel very clear that God has new plans for me and that this transition is necessary. It was 3 1/2 years ago that I felt called to accept a position at RezWest and my work has unfolded and developed into several amazing ministry areas; guest connections, worship aesthetics, missions, communications, and community events. I have enjoyed every part of my work - the creative opportunities, the volunteers and their amazing hearts, working with a dedicated and caring staff, and the opportunity to find new ways to serve God. I have grown spiritually, learned a tremendous amount about the church and ministry, and have experienced the Holy Spirit working in amazing ways. Each day has presented me opportunities to be at my personal best and to see others reflecting the light and love of Jesus Christ. What has made this job unforgettable, however, is the many, many people in the Resurrection West church family who I truly enjoy and love connecting with each week. I have been incredibly blessed by the friendships and love I have felt from so many - your appreciation, care, and willingness to serve in so many generous and loving ways has been astounding and heart-changing for me. This is what has stirred my passion within to serve God, because I was able to serve along side of you. Thank you! My family and I are now looking forward to continuing our relationships with you as members of the RezWest congregation, where we will continue to serve God, the church and the community. I am personally planning to take time over the next few months for respite and reflection, time with my family and time to discover what is to come next. I am excited to see what incredible opportunities are ahead!” Thank you for an amazing experience at RezWest - may God continue to put each one of us on the path of His work!
Please join me in thanking Chris for her ministry on staff here at Resurrection West!
Check out these opportunities to grow and serve throughout our church and community.
