gotandem "I'm Not an Island" for Wednesday, 21 September 2016
Read

The LORD is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him. (Nahum 1:7).
The faithful love of the LORD never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”
The LORD is good to those who depend on him,
to those who search for him.
(Lamentations 3:22-25).
"'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the LORD. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope'" (Jeremiah 29:11).
"For the LORD God is our light and protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will the LORD withhold from those who do what is right. O LORD Almighty, happy are those who trust in you" (Psalm 84:11-12).
Reflect
When I read these verses, God reminded me of something troublingly simple. I’m not him. I can’t be that single solitary place of hope and refuge for people, because I can’t even be that for myself. God can, and is. My responsibility is to figure out how to trust God to be that for me.
I’m not one-hundred percent sure on how to get there yet, but doing my best to learn a little more every day.
Respond
Take today to think about who you run to for comfort.
