Resurrection Blue Springs,
Greetings on this Friday morning. I hope this message finds you well and anticipating a great weekend ahead! You'll notice a big change in the east entrance area this weekend when you come to worship. The painting is almost finished and the new carpet is being laid as we speak. We hope to have the construction finished and the new furniture in place by the following weekend. I can't wait for you to see it!
This is Blue Springs Fall Fun Fest weekend and I want to encourage you all to come out to meet our neighbors and support our Praise team on Saturday night. They will be taking the Community Stage at 7 pm on Saturday. We'll be handing out invitations to the community for our own Fall Festival during their performance. We'd love to have your help passing out these invitations and extending a personal invitation to our neighbors to join us for the fun.
I received a report from our missions team this week and was thrilled to see how the number of people serving in our congregation continues to grow. We have several opportunities to serve coming up in September and October that I want to make sure you know about. Monday, September 19th is our rescheduled Community Blood Center drive. The donor bus will be in are parking lot from 3:30 - 7:00 pm. Stop by or schedule an appointment to donate.
The next two serving events allow you to serve more indirectly. On Saturday, September 24th we have our Sacred Steps 5K Run/ Walk on our Leawood campus. The Sacred Steps race proceeds raise funds for our missions initiatives in Africa for medical equipment, education and community health. This is a fun event for familys. Then on Saturday, October 1 those of you with motorcycles can help support our Healthy Foundations backpack ministry by joining your riding friends to take part in our Motorcycle Ride for Hunger. If you don't have a motorcycle, you can join the team manning one of the stops along the ride.
The next up on Saturday, October 8th is Christmas in October. This is a more hands on project, for ages 14 on up, where we'll be joining folks across the city to work on homes for veterans, elderly and disabled homeowners needing some assistance. You can find more information and how to sign up for all these projects below. My hope is that by the end of the year every one of you will have taken part in at least one serving opportunity. These events help us grow in our faith and build a strong sense of community. November and December will be full of other opportunites too when we begin our JOY in Serving projects
I have one last thing to report. Last Sunday evening we had 35 youth come to the first Rezlife of the new school year. It is so excited to see how this program is growing and further points to our need for a Student Ministry Program Director to add support to our youth and volunteers. If you know of a possible candidate, please pass along the job information below. We want to be able to expand the opportunites to know, love and serve God that we have available for our youth. This is a critical period in their lives.
Be sure to take a close look below for further details on upcoming events and activities . . .
