Thanks to you and this community from Dr. Gary Gottlieb, Partners In Health in Boston, Massachusetts, United States for Friday, 16 September 2016

Thanks to you and this community from
Dr. Gary Gottlieb, Partners In Health in Boston, Massachusetts, United States for Friday, 16 September 2016

Just a few minutes ago, I sent this email, below, to U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power.
It implores the ambassador to recommend swift, decisive action to end cholera in Haiti and to meet with Partners In Health leadership to determine the first steps of an immediate plan. And thanks to this community, we were able to present nearly 19,000 petition signatures urging the U.N. to act now.
Please accept my deepest thanks for supporting this petition. And know that together, we're showing the U.N. broad support for ending this scourge.
I'm so grateful for all that you do.
In solidarity,
Gary

Dear Ambassador Power:
The worst ongoing cholera epidemic in the world has killed nearly 10,000 people in Haiti since October 2010, and it shows no sign of stopping.
Now that the United Nations has acknowledged its role in bringing cholera to Haiti, we respectfully request that the United States Mission to the U.N. press that body to take full responsibility for this scourge and take appropriate action.
This includes treating those who are ill, widespread vaccination, water and sanitation system improvements, and hygiene education.
Attached to this message are the names of the thousands of individuals who have signed Partners In Health's petition imploring the United Nations to eliminate cholera in Haiti.
Thank you for your consideration of our views.
Sincerely,
Dr. Gary Gottlieb
