Leslie Melvin Heisz, 90, a retired clergy member of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference known as “Uncle Bud” or “Les”, died Sat., Sept. 17, 2016. He was born Jan. 12, 1926 in Belleville, KS, the son of Roy and Beulah (Campbell) Heisz.
He married Edith DeMoss, of Osborne, Kansas on June, 5, 1949. He graduated from Drew Theological School with a Masters of Div. on June 4, 1954. After graduation, Leslie and Edith returned to Kansas where he spent the rest of his life serving Hunter, Colesville-Libertyville, Colesville-Libertyville, Agra-Snow, Nickerson, Marquette-Windom-Langley, Dodge City, Assoc., Rozel-Garfield, Satanta, Maize-Bentley, Wichita Cedar Chapel-Brookside, retired in 1984.
He is survived by wife, Edith Heisz; sons, Kenneth (Leslie) Heisz, Keith Heisz.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, KS 67114. Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 1200 Boyd Ave, Newton, KS on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held on Tue., Sept. 27, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Courtland, Kansas at 10:30a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Asbury Park, Good Samaritan Fund or Trinity Heights United Methodist Church Foundation Fund. Condolences may be left at www.petersenfamilyfuneralhome.com
