The L'Arche Canada Foundation in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada with Jean Vanier's Daily Thoughts for Thursday, 22 September 2016 "The Promised Land"
When a community lets itself be guided in its growth by the cry of the poor and their needs, it will walk in the desert and it will be insecure. But it is assured of the promised land - not the one of security, but the one of peace and love. And it will be a community which is always alive.[Jean Vanier, Community and Growth, page 142]

JEAN VANIER'S Daily thought
"The Gap"
Our world is a world that has a growing gap between the rich and the poor. We are all caught in a culture of power, of promotion. We are caught in it. But there is danger -- you know the danger; we all know the danger. And the poor rise up in anger. Call it whatever you want to call it. But how can we work to close the gap? We say at L'Arche, "one heart at a time." It's all we can do.[Jean Vanier, Address to the Business Community, April 05]
