The Upper Room Daily Devotionals in Nashville, Tennessee, United States "PERFECT DETAILS" for Friday, 23 September 2016 with Scripture: Philippians 4:14 Nevertheless, it was good of you to share in my trouble. 15 And you Philippians yourselves know that in the early days of my work spreading the Good News, when I left Macedonia, not a single congregation shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving — only you. 16 Indeed, in Thessalonica when I needed it, you sent me aid twice. 17 I am not seeking the gift; rather, I am looking for what will increase the credit balance of your account. 18 I have been more than paid in full: I have been filled, since I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent — they are a fragrant aroma,[Philippians 4:18 Genesis 8:21; Exodus 29:18] an acceptable sacrifice, one that pleases God well. 19 Moreover, my God will fill every need of yours according to his glorious wealth, in union with the Messiah Yeshua.

God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.[Philippians 4:19 (NIV)]
A few years ago, I worked with a friend to create decorative window treatments for the stained-glass windows of our sanctuary. Since each stained-glass panel depicted a different scripture, we chose to create a unique treatment for each window. Our limited budget often required in-store redesign of original ideas. Back at the workshop, we cut and sewed, throwing scraps in the trash as we went. Most of the time, the design flowed as planned. However, a few designs caused a struggle. Either something seemed to be missing or the design needed something that we hadn’t foreseen. Having no funds left, we would rummage through our trash discards. Amazingly, without fail, we would discover the “perfect” final detail.
When our lives do not go as we planned, God gives us the opportunity to reach within ourselves and find the hidden “something” to rise above that difficulty — perhaps an insight God has already provided from a past experience. Each time we come through a trial with a greater understanding of our Lord, we are adding another perfect detail in God’s unique plan for our lives. God truly has supplied all we need to face anything that life brings our way.
