ADVOCACY ALERT: The House Votes Tomorrow. Act Now! from Prison Fellowship of Lansdowne, Virginia 20176, United States for Tuesday, 29 November 2016
We at Prison Fellowship want to alert you to an immediate opportunityfor you to impact America's criminal justice system.
Chances are that you know someone who's faced mental illness or addiction and has come in contact with the justice system because of it. If so, then you know that our system often isn't equipped to respond appropriately to these situations.
Congress is in session for a just little longer, so there’s an urgent opportunity for us as Christians to share our support for a bill that will help ensure our brothers and sisters with mental illness and addiction issues receive the treatment and services they need!
The House will vote tomorrow, Nov. 30, on comprehensive legislation: the 21st Century Cures Act (H.R. 6). This bill consists of key mental health, criminal justice, and addiction reforms. The package also includes a Prison Fellowship priority bill—the Comprehensive Justice and Mental Health Act—which facilitates collaboration among the criminal justice, juvenile justice, mental health treatment, and substance abuse systems.
Please contact your U.S. representative and ask him or her to vote “yes” on the 21st Century Cures Act! It will only take a moment for you to send our pre-written letter through our easy online tool.
Act now while there's still time! Please send your message tomorrow morning so that your representative receives it before the vote.
Thanks for helping to advance justice that restores!
