Resurrection West,
We have so much to be thankful for and this Sunday we open our new space! Hundreds of you gave sacrificially and prayed that God would use those funds and build space to continue in the mission to build Christian community where non and nominally religious people can become deeply committed Christians! Your building committee worked closely with our architects and contractors to create space that is friendly, beautiful, and multi-purpose to help raise the next generation of disciples. The space includes new permanent front doors, permanent nurseries, coffee and conversation area, kid specific restrooms, adult restrooms, and narthex with soft seating. This increases our KiDSCOR classrooms from three currently to eleven with the new space. Many of you have stepped up your commitments financially for 2017, you’ve signed up to serve as ushers, greeters, parking attendants, hospitality, worship team, youth, and children’s ministries to expand to four services starting this Sunday. Thank you!!
The new times beginning this Sunday, Nov. 27th are…
8:00am - Sunday school to 5th grade
9:30am - Sunday school to 5th grade & Youth Sunday school for 6th-8th
11:00am - Sunday school to 5th grade & Youth Sunday school for 6th-8th
5:00pm - Sunday school to 5th grade
I want to ask you to be early to worship (and especially consider worshiping at the new 8am or 5pmservice, if possible). Please be extra hospitable to our many volunteers making everything happen from the parking lot, to the classroom, and more. We will have a ceremonial ribbon cutting three times on Sunday (9:20am, 10:50am, & 6:20pm). The space will then be open to explore before it is filled with our kids next Sunday, Dec. 4th.
We also begin the advent season Sunday and the Sanctuary has been adorned with Christmas. We will sing Christmas songs and Pastor Adam will begin an Advent series to experience Christmas through the life of Joseph, Jesus’ earthly father. You can view and share the promo video on social media by clicking here.
Then the next Sunday - Dec. 4th, our kids will move in and Pastor Adam will preach LIVE at all four RezWest services! He will lead us in a dedication of the building as we celebrate what God is doing to change lives, transform our community, and renew the church!
Check out the opportunities below and get connected in knowing, loving, and serving God here at RezWest.

Places to serve at Resurrection West
Hospitality Teams – Bring your amazing enthusiasm and bright smile and help us create a welcoming environment at Resurrection West. We now offer four worship services each Sunday. This opens up many new places to serve. The beauty of these volunteer opportunities is that you can serve 30 minutes before/after the worship service you normally attend. To sign up to serve as bulletin stuffer, communion volunteer, connection point greeter, coffee and refreshment volunteer, greeter, parking lot attendant, technical crew, usher or weekday data entry helper, contact Yolanda.Byers@cor.org.
Muggers Needed – Taking a coffee mug to a first-time visitor is a Resurrection tradition. First-time visitor households are identified via the attendance notebooks at each worship service; then by the end of the service, mugs are prepared for delivery by including the family name and a map to the house. We need muggers for Olathe, Shawnee, Lenexa, Desoto, Overland Park and the Lawrence area. Contact David.Robertson@cor.org for more information or to volunteer.
Volunteer for Upward Basketball – Serve as a coach, assistant coach or referee or work behind the scenes. Volunteering with Upward is a great way to help kids develop mentally, spiritually and socially. Sign up to be a part of this exciting ministry at cor.org/west/upward.
Places to serve in our community
Serve at Ridgeview Elementary (our partner school) - Ridgeview is looking for adult mentors of elementary age kids who can come to the school once a week (M-F) for half and hour, during lunchtime, to mentor a child. The mentor would simply have lunch with the child, perhaps help with some basic skills and be a stable adult friend, which is a great need for some of these kids. Please contact chris.holliday@cor.org if you would be able to help.

Its going to be a landmark day in the history of our congregation as we open the new space on Sunday so don’t miss it! Please be in prayer for this new season in our church as we seek to bring the hope of Christ to our community. May God bless us and guide us as we are faithful to Him!

Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant - for Friday, 18 November 2016 from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West of Olathe, Kansas, United States
Resurrection West,
Several congregants and I are on a pilgrimage in the Holy Land, and we have visited sites celebrating the life of Christ and His ministry. Today we renewed our baptisms in the Jordan river and arrived in the Galilee region where we will explore the area where Jesus preached, healed, and called the disciples, including taking a boat out into the sea of Galilee to read the story of Jesus calming the storm! The group is having a truly powerful and emotional time on this journey. Please keep us in your prayers.
We are now just a little over a week away from the launch of our new worship schedule beginning on Sunday, Nov. 27th - 8:00 am, 9:30 am, 11:00 am, and 5:00 pm. Earlier this summer we invited you to complete a worship survey helping to discern the best new times to make room for all. Hundreds of you completed the survey and many of you also committed to worship at the new 8am or 5pm service to help make room. We are praying now for the many new guests and visitors that will worship with us with the opening of the building and the coming of the Advent season. Thank you for that commitment! Please continue to pray for our construction team as they begin to finalize the project. Pastor Adam will be kicking off the Advent series on Nov. 27th with a look at the life of Joesph and we will have a ribbon cutting to walk through and explore the new space. On Sunday, Dec. 4th, the space will become operational with our kids moving in and Pastor Adam preaching LIVE at all four West services! He will lead us in a dedication of the building as we celebrate what God is doing to change lives, transform our community, and renew the church!
Help us decorate our building for this Advent season. We have many volunteer needs in the next few days to prepare for the opening and coming of Christmas. This includes moving boxes of Christmas decor, building trees, and adorning them with lights and ornaments. Debi Nixon and Travis Morgan will be the staff leading these projects. Please sign up now for a volunteer shift, including many different areas of service by clicking into a sign-up genius we’ve created here.
If you have yet to complete your financial commitment card for 2017, please go now to cor.org/stewardship and complete your card. Please be sure to complete the West Campus card and pick up your mug as a thank you for your generosity. You can also pick one up at an usher stand and drop it in the offering plate on Sunday. This is so important in our worship and response to God.
Check out the opportunities below and get connected in knowing, loving, and serving God here at RezWest.
Joyfully Offer Yourself in Serving... That's JOY! Stop by the JOY table today to explore the many ways you can impact the Kansas City area this holiday season. Current opportunities include preparing food for the Kids TLC Thanksgiving Luncheon; serving lunch on Thanksgiving Day at Kids TLC; filling a Thanksgiving Meal bag, helping sort and/or deliver Thanksgiving Meal Bags to local non- profits who will distribute them. Other serving opportunities will be added each week. Thank you for helping bring joy and hope to those in-need. For more information, contact chris.holliday@cor.org
Alpha - The Alpha Course is coming Monday night January 9th from 6:30pm-8:00 pm with childcare offered. This six-week course focuses on the big questions of the Christian faith and is great for people looking to go deeper beyond worship. There is no homework, and there will be time to tackle your questions of faith. There is also a catered meal for the whole family. Register at www.cor.org/west/signup.
KIDSCOR is Moving! I'm in - Are You? December 4th will see us open our new building space and suddenly KiDSCOR grows from three rooms to eleven! Four times as many rooms means four times as many hands, hearts and smiles are needed. YOU are needed. A new volunteer role has been created just for this need – Room Helper. If you’re not comfortable leading a class, this role is for you. If you’re a parent with a child in KIDSCOR and you’re not currently serving, this role is for YOU! Because every child who walks through our doors needs someone to lock eyes with them, to learn their name, and to show them they belong. Because we have a responsibility to create safe environments for our children and provide two adults per room, YOU are needed. Rather than leading activities, Room Helpers will simply connect and assist. To sign-up, contact christie.walker@cor.org We’re all in – are you?
Sign Up for Upward Basketball – Registration is open for kids kindergarten – 5th grade for the season beginning in January. Cost for the season is $100, with a $10 discount for 2nd and 3rd siblings. The purpose of Upward is to help develop kids mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially. Learn more and register by November 19, at cor.org/west/upward

Finally, I want to invite you to remember a couple of groups in in prayer. The first is the more than 50 of our teens who are participating in our annual Metamorphosis retreat at Youthfront Camp West. Last weekend our middle schooler’s went and this weekend our high schooler’s go. Pray for changed lives and endurance for our volunteer leaders led by our youth pastor, Rick Webb! Then on Monday we fly out (48 in all) on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. We will retrace the chronological life of Christ, beginning in Bethlehem, moving on to the Galilee, and concluding the week in Jerusalem. We will be immersed in Scripture and discovery as we walk where Jesus walked. Please also pray for changed lives through this experience!

We also have many other volunteer needs to prepare for the opening and coming of Christmas. This includes moving boxes of Christmas decor’, building trees, and adorning them with lights and ornaments. Debi Nixon and Travis Morgan will be the staff leading these projects. You can sign up for a volunteer shift, including many different areas of service over the next few weeks by clicking into a sign-up genius we’ve created here. All week long I’ve witnessed volunteers building furniture for our classrooms and preparing TV displays for placement. Be sure to go and look and sign-up to serve to be a part of this historic moment in our church history!
Pastor Adam continues this Sunday in the “21” series. The title of his message is “Making America Great Again”. This will be a poignant message for our time inspiring and challenging us into a deeper relationship with God. Invite a friend and join us this Sunday at 9am, 10:45am, or 5pm.
I am so grateful to the now 353 households who have completed their card. This is so important in our worship and response to God.
Check out the opportunities below and get connected in knowing, loving, and serving God here at RezWest.

Fill out a the I’M IN! card in your bulletin this Sunday. We’re all in – are you?
Annual Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast - Saturday, November 19, 9 -11 am, Resurrection West Sanctuary. Start your holiday season off with an attitude of gratitude at our third annual Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast. Enjoy great food and conversation, spend time in prayer and praise; and hear Rev. Cayce Stapp, Pastor of Global Impact Ministries, give his powerful testimony and share about Resurrection’s serving efforts around the globe. Registration is not required, but would be helpful. So if you plan to attend, please email Chris.Holliday@cor.org with the number of adults and children in your party. Come and be blessed by this morning of thanks.
Places to serve at Resurrection West
Hospitality Teams – Bring your amazing enthusiasm and bright smile and help us create a welcoming environment at Resurrection West. Coming up at the end of November, we will offer four worship services each Sunday.
FaithWork: Serving Our Community – This Saturday, Nov. 12, 9-11:30 am. Meet at the RezWest Mission Center (25000 College Blvd., Olathe, KS) for prayer, breakfast snacks and instructions. Then, participate in a variety of JOY in Serving projects, including wrapping, sorting and preparing gifts for the Ridgeview Elementary School JOY Christmas Store (which gives children an opportunity to choose gifts for their loved ones). Adults, students and children of all ages are welcome. No sign-up required—just come and serve. For more information, contact Chris.Holliday@cor.org

Looking forward to worshiping with you on Sunday,
Pastor Jason
