The Deaf Devo from The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States "Books of Prophecy" Bible Reading: Hebrews 1:1-3 for Friday, 10 February 2017
Hebrews 1:1 In days gone by, God spoke in many and varied ways to the Fathers through the prophets. 2 But now, in the acharit-hayamim, he has spoken to us through his Son, to whom he has given ownership of everything and through whom he created the universe. 3 This Son is the radiance of the Sh’khinah, the very expression of God’s essence, upholding all that exists by his powerful word; and after he had, through himself, made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of HaG’dulah BaM’romim.[Hebrews 1:3 Psalm 110:1]

The last 17 books of the Old Testament are books of prophecy. Sometimes these books are divided into two groups: Isaiah through Daniel are called the major prophet books, and Hosea through Malachi are called the minor prophet books.
The Old Testament books of prophecy include the words of many of God's prophets. Our Bible verses for today remind us that these prophets taught God's laws to His people, warned them about disobeying and told them that someday God would send His Son to die for all people. Often people treated the prophets very badly. But the prophets' message never changed. Their message always was, "God hates sin. But God loves you and wants to save you."
The Old Testament books of prophecy are very important for us today. The things the prophets told about came true in the New Testament. This shows us we can always depend on God and His message.[Jo Krueger]
"Brothers and sisters, follow the example of the prophets who spoke for the Lord. They suffered many bad things, but they were patient."[James 5:10]
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for Your message of salvation. In Jesus' name. Amen.
